Freestyle Music Park ..Revamp As Busy As A Cuckoo-Ka-ChooChoo

Freestyle Announces "Kids in America" Zone - Discover Myrtle Beach Message Board & Forum

News from the Discover Myrtle Beach site, belonging to the City of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina -

The main area the new owners are making over to begin with is the former Banana Splitsville kids area. It will be replaced by the Kids In America theme, and the land area increased to 17,000 sq. ft.

Four family-friendly rides will be added, which include -

Wheels In the Sky...hang glider carts that will send guests swoopng and soaring as they peddle through "vibrant hued clouds". The music of Journey is featured here as the "wheel in the sky keeps on turnin' ". First American iconic band has been honored in this manner at a theme park. Pretty nice tribute.

Life Is A Highway...families ride around a flat track in 18 wheelers as they rock to the high energy song of the same name, made popular by Tom Cochrane. A new version of the tune was recorded by Rascal Flatts and featured in the Disney-Pixar film, Cars. Each of the truck cabs will include 2 seats for children and two for adults.

Life is a highway! I wanna ride it all night long.
Honey, if you're going my way ..I wanna drive it all night long.

Get Off My Cloud...balloon ride with brightly colored designs, brilliantly crafted to lift spirits high ..literally. The attraction will allow up to four guests (adults included) a real send-up with an awesome view of the entire park.

A Stones inspired attraction has been a long time coming. Do people still like family-centered attractions such as this? Some Girls Do.
HEY! HEY! You! You! Get off of my cloud!

Fly Like An Eagle...it's Miller Time!. Put that damn beer down, immediately! We're of course talking about a Steve Miller Band inspired traditional kite flyer ride that will take parents and kids into free flight over Kids In America while experiencing the sensation of ocean waves.

By the description, I'm left clueless as to what a "feeling of ocean waves" means...but it sounds like a fun time that keeps on slippin' slippin' slippin' ..into the future.

There is a "surprise attraction" coming to the area, I'm assuming in time for the grand opening ..kids tree house, and a pop-up fountain play diversion.

New names for some of the old rides will include the Cuckoo-Ka-ChooChoo kiddie train (the Beatle's Walrus rears his magical mystery head again), and Doo Wop Dune Buggies. The Basketball courts will be relocated.

Coaster news: Shake, Rattle and Roller Coaster will change it's name to Hang Ten. Now that we know how it's hangin' there my friends, that is all for this update.

They need to keep the Banana Splits! That was the main reason I wanted to go to this park (besides the trippy, messed up Moody Blues ride). I LOVE the Banana Splits! I want my picture with Bingo!

Na Na Na! Na NaNaNa! Na Na NA! NA NANANAaaaaaaaaaa!

Don't know why they couldn't keep te Banana Splits. Surely, the use of their trademark is out of the hands of the former owners now.

UPDATE!

Apparently by looking at the parks website, Led Zepplin The ride is being rethemed into "The Time Machine".

It's going to play 5 songs from several decades, though unfortuntly none of them are listed yet.

I will also say the blimp has certainly turned bizarre, it's pink, red and has this gothic black webbing over the fins of the blimp.

It's just 18 days till opening, and they still need to announce a bunch of things.

Thanks for the heads-up AE_Fan. You have prompted me to find the above Myrtle Beach link that includes an article about The Time Machine coaster, including pictures. I kinda kike the blimps new mix of bright and gothic black colors.

I agree mister_peterson that the Cuckoo-Ka-ChooChoo is the best named attraction in the entire park! It's DAMN-CREDIBLE! Further proof that the legacy of the Beatles will live on forever.

If they didn't release the names of the songs with the press release, chances are they suck.

The Hard Rock Park blog has a concept art image for The Time Machine. I think the new owners are going to really take the park up a notch. Having the themes of attractions less on specific bands or artist is a good idea since not everyone is drawn to those performers.

Sally Corp has their own YouTube channel with a Nights in White Satin video. They said that:

"No, the new park owners are doing a re-theme and changing the music. They lost the rights to Nights In White Satin when they bought the park."

Sound point, Gregg. If the songs are hot they would brag them up.

Just love The Time Machine retheming. Looks to be good immersive fun. Appreciate the Nights In White Satin-the Trip vidio. I've been wanting to view it as I missed the opportunity to experience the ride. It truely is a trippy, zippy cool "ride thru".

More likely they are a medley of songs from the time period in question that have been created for the ride. Most likely it would cost less then using actual recordings and make the sound all unified.

I am glad they are moving away from a specific artist, even if that was not there intention.
