Phantasialand last Saturday

Last Saturday me and some friends went to Phantasialand outside Köln in Germany.

If you don´t know what Phantasialand is here comes a description:
It´s a copy of Disneyland.

I am not even going to try to make one of those fancy trip reports that some of you guys tend to make now and then. I´ll just give my take on the park.

Phantasialand is devided in many small lands. Some of them are Mystery, Fantasy and Africa. I think you get the point withouit me having to name them all.
We entered the park from the Asia inspired land. It felt like a strange thing since there is a copy of Mainstreet in the park. Mainstreet in Phantasialand is called Alt Berlin, themed after the golden years of Berlin. Both Asia and Alt Berlin were well made and felt as detailed as Disneyparks in the states.
The other lands were not as great looking. Africa had some nice paths and buildings but it felt too small.

The rides in the park where most of the time well themed although far from Disney standards, more like a very cheap IOA.
There was a Big Thunder Mountain copy that was called the Micheal Jackson Thrill Ride...
I have no idea why, since it didn´t have anything to do with the former "king" of pop.
The park had an Imax ride themed to Atlantis that could have been awesome but due to bad design did not preform as well as it could. (When will they have HD projection´s on these rides?!) If the ride would have been in 3D it would have rocked.
There was a raftride that sent visitors through an elevator up in a dark castle and launch type of ride inside another dark castle.
The parks wildest ride was called Black Mamba. It was fast, thrilling and had a nice theme with caves and african buildings.
There was rides for everybody in the park

To me the park had one point that Disney misses. The fact that everbody can enjoy it, even people that like fast and THRILLING coasters. I know that the speed and thrill of a fast coaster does not make a great ride. The best ride in the park was a mild coaster similar to Crush in Paris.

When it comes to the details the park was about as bad as any. We are all used to the Disneystandards.
Something that really bothered me was the fact that there were dogs all over the place, even in the restaurants! Another great thing about Germany is that people smoke all over the place.
When spending time in this park I realised that I hope that Disney never builds a park here.

Phantasialand is a great place to be when in the area of Köln. I think alot of people are scared of the Disneyprices and the fact that Disneyland has a reputation of being a park for children only. There where alot of people from Holland and Poland viseting the park.
For a person that never has been to Disneyland the park is an awesome place.
Another thing I realised when viseting Phantasialand was that I really miss Disneyland.
The Disney stories and characters can never be copied and that is why nothing can beat a the feeling of walking down Mainstreet USA.

Here are some videos of the Phantasialand:
