Freestyle Park changes: CSI and monsters

The park has now announced that they will host a new CSI show in conjunction with CBS TV.

Freestyle Music Park

The latest rumor is that the 'Nights in White Satin' dark ride at Freestyle Music Park in Myrtle Beach will become the “Monsters of Rock." Sounds like a lot of fun. I hope the ride features songs like "The Monster Mash."

This dark ride weaves between reality and illusion with an onboard audio track that spill out ghoulish tunes. Masterfully blending sights, sounds, smells and techniques, rides of all ages are immersed in one of the park's coolest (and spookiest) rides.

Aww man they need to keep the trippy Moody Blues ride as it is... and just give out samples of LSD in the queue so you can have the full "experience".

The Nights In White Satin darkride being replaced with a Monsters of Rock ride is BIG news. I was worried the park would start out without a darkride.

Hopefully, the ride will include songs such as The Monster Mash, The Purple People Eater, Ghostbusters, Godzilla, Ironman and Thriller.

Re: Freestyle Park changes: CSI and monsters

Well on the forums of Discover Myrtle Beach, they are currently posting a lot of pictures from media tour of the park.

You can follow the thread here (Keep in mind they are still sending the pics in so check back often.)WALK-THROUGH: Freestyle Music Park - Discover Myrtle Beach Message Board & Forum

Right now they have photos of the Main plaza, the Myrtle Beach section and Across the Pond. Now I have to admit some parts look very nice, however some of the things are pretty much the same so the former owners of the park could hit them pretty hard with the "Trade Dress" suit.

Other things look rushed, for example while they have the sign up for the new Monstars of Rock darkride...in my opinion it looks really cheap.

Though it's not as bad as what they did to the former Punk Pit buildings, holy crapola...my eyes hurt from the new colors!

UPDATE- Apparently some people were able to ride the new Monstars of Rock darkride, and the news is not good. It sounds like FMP made it a "kids" ride, as in only little kids would enjoy it and not Teens and Adults.

Thanks for the link and update. HRP lost in there demand of trade dress. Very interesting to read about.

Considering they changed the ride in about a month or two to the Monstars there is no way that it could anything that unique it that amount of time. It is very possible that after this season the will tweak the experience.

Here is a video of the MonStars of Rock ride. Nice drawings on the cutouts, but no movement or lighting really. I am guessing it still needs some work or it will be replaced for the next season.

Monsters of rock looks as though it was shoehorned in because management new people would be expecting at least one darkride. Let's hope that they intend to replace this mediocre show next year.

Ya. The concept is actually not bad, but the who thing feels really rushed. I like the drawings too, but they don't move. Heck the simplest dark rides have it so it's all dark until the light comes on and startles you. They didn't even seem to do that.

If they are going to upgrade it, they should put up some signage explaining that and ask the visitors what they would like to see. Imagine a ride that was truly shaped by who was visiting the park.

I wish it was still the Moody Blues ride. Never got to experience it in person, but the videos I saw of it were so trippy and psychedelic.

And why the ferk is there a CSI show in a MUSIC theme park?!

They are probably going to have the same problem that other park have where having such a specific theme will limit the possibilities for some shows and attractions.
