![]() | Re: Renaissance Pleasure Faire -- 2009 season We may have bumped into one another on last weekend -- we were filming a portion of our video podcast with the Queen, and I know my wife went around on Saturday and bugged half of court (during lunch, no less) asking their personal opinions about her. :-) |

![]() | Re: Renaissance Pleasure Faire -- 2009 season I know -- living in Southern California, you can find (with a little searching) one going every weekend pretty much. :-) And we are of the belief that kids in garb have to be the most adorable things on the planet. (Wyatt, actually, gets some better looking stuff later on. He grew out of what we made for him shortly after this first weekend!) |

That would be awesome -- you seemed to take quite a few on that weekend while we were "hanging out" at the Bell, but only saw the one on your site... we would LOVE to see anything else you captured! | |

![]() | Re: Renaissance Pleasure Faire -- 2009 season FYI to anyone wondering when Part 3 of the gallery will be posted -- were kinda sidetracked with our first two trips to the Disneyland Resort with our wee little one (Wednesday and Saturday). As my wife wanted to publish the Trip Report on those, I needed to get those photos up and ready to view. Plus have Part 2 of the faire video podcast to finish up and get approval from the event... So, give me a bit more time, and we'll have all sorts of faire photos to share! :-) Thank you to EVERYONE who has replied. I think this has gotten more responses than any of our previous Disney-related TR. :-) |

![]() | Re: Renaissance Pleasure Faire -- 2009 season I need to get in this forum more, I've missed some great trip reports! Thank you for your trip report and pictures, they're great. It's been many years since I've been to the Renaissance Faire and looking at your pictures reminds me of all the fun I'm missing. Your son is simply adorable and your wife beautiful (as both nice and the evil twin ). Looks like a great time was had by all!

![]() | Re: Renaissance Pleasure Faire -- 2009 season WEEKEND 4, PART 1 - April 25, 2009 It was the dawning of the fourth weekend at Faire when we next attended -- and I do mean dawn. Yes, my wife was doing Whore-For-A-Day again. Yes, this time we wanted her to be dressed and ready as the gates opened. And yes, I wanted to get some footage of the entrance without a hoarde of people crowding it, waiting to get in. Ah, the joys of doing a video podcast. But did we need to be there quite so early? Probably not -- especially since we were stuck waiting for someone to show up to let us in. But we have great photos like this thanks to it. ![]() I really sort of wonder why, on days she KNOWS she is going to be changing costumes, why she still shows up dressed up. (By the way, before anyone panics, there's a reason our baby doesn't show up in this set of photos. The little guy was in the care of his grandparents back home. It's not like we just forgot about him on some haybale, or anything...) So, the Faire opened -- with all the glory and splendor we've come to expect from it. Except there was one thing I realized a bit too late -- it's not a good first impression for regular patrons to enter a just-opened themed event to see some guy in costume with a lot of camera equipment. Oops. So, I took a quite trip through the backstage area to get out of immediate view... and also got a decent spot for the performance of one of our favorite groups, The Poxy Boggards. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() While there, a few of the gals from the Bell ventured into Rogues' Reefe -- one of them looking awfully familiar. ![]() ![]() I think I like the first outfit better -- although this one was very... um... sunshiney yellow. Pinky (of "and the Brain" fame) would be pleased at the color choice. I hear it's his favorite. I joined the gals on their outting, snapping a few shots of them and a few of the other characters we met along the way. ![]() ![]() ![]() So this, what, makes my wife's other OTHER evil twin? I probably should have checked into her family tree a bit more before marrying her. ![]() And I just have to show this piece of artistry. This has to be one of my absolute favorite costumes ever. Yes, it's chainmail. But can you tell what makes it special? ![]() That entire shirt is made of the pop-top thingies from soda cans (and probably a few beers as well). Impressive: ![]() Most impressive. Being real original, we headed back to the Reefe to see another set of the Boggards. ![]() Now, we had chatted with one of the guys who started the group, and he ASSURED us that they would be singing a particular song (with a particular setup) about a woman who... well, shares a profession with my wife's evil twins. So, she wanted to be there to play along. And they totally forgot about their promise. Grrrrr... However, their performance was still great, as usual. And, it earned us a newfound respect for poor sign-language interpreters. It's bad enough when it's a fast-paced ad-libbed show that you have to sign for. But here we had a fast-paced, somewhat ad-libbed, really raunchy show that seemed to get worse just BECAUSE she was signing. So, this tribute goes out to you, Mistress Cow-Costumed Sign Language Interpreter Person! ![]() Thanks to her, I know the signs for a lot of things I never ever really wanted to know but forget. Swell. And now (thanks to a bad seat), Boggards... In.... Profile...! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hmm -- am mildly impressed we had enough photos to show of the group without naughty gestures nor inappropriate signage showing! After my sweet wife changed out of her professional costume, and as we headed on our way for the day, we stopped by the Queen's Cup -- an environmental recreation of... a pub. (There's a nice gig -- acting like you are a patron of a pub. I want that job!) While we were enjoying the show, the gals from the Bell had taken over the place. ![]() And, to finish off this day's photo journal... have you seen this man? ![]() He looks familiar... (more to come) |

![]() | Re: Renaissance Pleasure Faire -- 2009 season how great! Your wife is such a good sport to dress up twice in one day! And I am amazed at that chainmail. TOO cool!

![]() | Re: Renaissance Pleasure Faire -- 2009 season I feel like I may be beating a dead horse here -- but we have a lot of photos we wanted to share (and, lets face it, the total number posted here on MiceChat is only a fraction of what we took). So, proceeding with animal cruelty. Horse, you had this coming... WEEKEND 4, PART 2 - April 26, 2009 Always working on our growing podcast project, we headed back up the very next Sunday -- again with little Wyatt in tow. Thanks to all of the Whore-For-A-Day-ing, we both realized we had gotten behind on the actual project we were doing for the event... so we kicked things into high gear. Which is why this group of photos seems a bit more diverse. Or should be. Of course, to disprove this, we head right back to the Reefe for more with the Poxy Boggards. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's a very good thing our little boy doesn't understand any of what the Boggards are singing about. But at least he seemed to enjoy the up-beat tempo of the music. ![]() ![]() ... just about as much as total strangers seemed to like him! ![]() ![]() And a rare glimpse at non-whore "Mommy." ![]() After the show, we hiked to the back area of the Renaissance Pleasure Faire to take a look at some of the historical reenactment encampments back there. Man, these folks are dedicated... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then took a pit-stop, getting some more adorable baby photos while we rested. Eat your heart out, Gerber baby! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A bit more from Suspended Reality, whom we briefly mentioned on our first photo Trip Report page... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And, of course, a happy helping of some of the other folks you're likely to run into on any given Faire day... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And the sleeping baby tells us it's time to head on home for this trip. ![]() I thank all of you who have followed our adventure thus far, and those few who will stick around for the two final galleries -- both of which have plenty of baby Wyatt photos, and the last of which has our little guy meeting Queen Elizabeth herself! If anyone is interested in seeing video from these trips, the first of our four part podcast series is online right now. Part 2 is getting finally approvals before being posted itself... so you have a bit of catching up to do! You can find links to it (and our other videos) in the MicePod forum. And while I'm referencing other places on MiceChat (and remembering that this is, after all, a DISNEY forum more than a faire one), anyone who liked these photos probably should check out my wife's photo TR of our baby's first visit(s) to the Disneyland Resort. Until next time, and our last two sets of photos...! |
