DIY Imagineering links

I thought it would be fun to have a thread that featured links to folks who do their own 'Imagineering' in some form or other. It could be decorations for a home haunt or a crawl through attraction under ones model railroad table or other things that feel like they could be an attraction in the making. This is a thread where maybe we can share those projects that we discover surfin the web. They can even be your own project.

Here is the one that inspired me to post:

Sculptor Nemo Gould makes working robot sculptures and has created an awesome miniature scene of the Nautilus in an unused computer case.

To see the scene, visit: Aboard the Nautilus

And make sure you check out his other sculptures and art too: Nemomatic-The Robotic, Kinetic, Found Object Scultpures of Artist Nemo Gould

Do you guys have any other links to DIY Imagineering?

Check out this great home haunt peppers ghost effect. It's really well done.

Terror on the Butte garage dark ride. Definitely DIY Imagineering. It would be so cool if you had a dedicated space to try to make a ride so then you could move around the props and effects and make new rides.

Ya, it looks pretty believable.

Here is a penuts themed holiday display with a simple animatronic cut out Linus that talks. Simple, but effective.

This is so cool! I was really close to making an Adventure Through Inner Space ride with a system similar to this (you'd go in a straight line) but I canned that idea in favor of a lower table (I wanted to be able to my Nature' Wonderland model on top!)

Wow. That would have been pretty cool. I have only seen a few DIY dark rides, but I expect we will see a few more in the next few years.

Nautilus, I love that you are posting all the blog posts on your project. Thanks.

Re: DIY Imagineering links

This singing pumpkin is pretty nice:

My cousin's partner went to the Marker Fair here in the Bay Area last weekend and got a 'Make (magazine) controller' and showed me this video:

The make controller plugs into your computer and you can do all sorts of cool things (at least it looks like that). This site has a lot of cool examples of what the technology can do: Welcome — MakingThings

Re: DIY Imagineering links

HomeImagineer on YouTube has posted his own version of the Tower of Terror which consist of a model with video projected on it. Pretty impressive.

Quote:
As seen in the previous video, this is a physical model about 95cm across.
All the audio and visual effects are controlled by a laptop, including speakers fitted behind the model, projection videos and show/interior lighting.
I have to move the elevator door by hand though =)

Since I have no idea how to compose attraction audio myself, what you hear is a cut-n-slice of various existing Tower of Terror sounds. The dictation is of course irrelevant to my own story, but I used the French version so fewer people would realise
Here is an overview of the model:

Re: DIY Imagineering links

FutureImagineer is looking for help with an animatronic parrot. Another person doing some cool Disney-esq DIY Imagineering. I find it pretty inspiring.

Re: DIY Imagineering links

Our own Nautilus aka Sam Towler should be added to the list with his Crawl Through attractions. Amazing work that is just inspiring. His latest project is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and he has a blog with his progress on the project. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

Quote:
Planned to be completed by the coming winter, a major "crawl-through attraction" will be built under a large 12' X 5' table themed to the Disney Classic movie 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. This will be the closest thing to an original attraction that I will be creating in the 3-Dimension media (I've been recreating Disneyland attractions under my model railroad tabel for nearly 5 years)
He also has an Art Blog: Sam Towler Art and Photos of his Projects: Pictures by STowler - Photobucket and of course videos on YouTube: YouTube - STNautilus's Channel
