Vasooki goes to Zion!

This is my first trip report, bear with me. Now, I dont have any fancy camera or anything, just a small Cannon camera.

We headed out on a 6 hour drive to Utah's national park, Zion. It really is a beautiful place. After we left the hotel, we drove out there, to be greeted by this wonderful sight:

I took most of the pictures.
We bought some water bottles, (because we forgot ours...) and filled them up. (My dad, and little brother fight over who gets to fill it up...)

So with our water bottles in hand, we were ready for the strenuous hike to...

The bus!!
The bus offered some beautiful views:

I didn't take too many pictures on that first trip on the bus. We go off and did the hike to the Emerald Pools. Don't be fooled. It's not an easy hike. Of course, with my recently injured knee, it could have been easier than I thought. Here are some of the pictures I took on that hike.

^Lovely river.

The whole park is so pretty. I don't think there was one place without good views:

I took tons more pictures, but I only selected a few.
What seemed like forever later, we approced the Emerald Pools.

Not as spectacular as I had hoped. Definatley not worth hurting my knee more than it already was.

Now beware... the bus views photo-dump!
I just took a buncha pictures from the bus. Here they are.

More to come...

See any goats munching dynamite sticks near any mine train tracks?

I wish I had. :P Because then the bus ride would have been a lot more fun.

It was mild in the morning, but go hotter as the day wore on. It got up to the mid 80's.

Re: Vasooki goes to Zion!

Part 2!

And this next one is my favorite. I took it from the backseat of our car, and it turned out great.

We also went to Grafton, and small ghost town, but it was filled with flies and fireants, and I didnt care for it much. I took a couple pictures, but they didn't come out good. These pictures don't do this park justice at all, and my little camera certainly didn't do the best job it could have done. But, it was fun.

Re: Vasooki goes to Zion!

I love the landscape of Zion, and the geology of most of Utah for that matter. This thread reminded me that I have to take my daughter to see this wonderful park. Hopefully I'll have enough time on vacation to make it out that way again when I head up to Dinosaur National Monument this summer. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Re: Vasooki goes to Zion!

I love living in Utah. You have the very green north mixed with the red rock in the south and everything in between. Anybody considering a vacation to southern Utah should check out Capitol Reef National Park and on your way out, check out Goblin Valley State Park (It'll feel like going on Thunder Mountain, but without the roller coaster!). However, check out Devil's Garden in Capitol Reef as well.
