Northern California Pirate Festival 2009

My first time going to this event was this Father's Day weekend, even though this was it's third year...I've been missing out! Held in Vallejo, along the marina, it was a lot of fun....a lot of familiar faces for me anyway, from renn faires and the Dickens Christmas Fair in the area, haunted houses and the like as well.

Onward to photos!

First off, on the way out there, lunch at Foster's Freeze.....

The one in Danville has a pastrami burger! Mmmmm.

Onion rings of goodness.

The crew of Pirates of Emerson, a haunt in my hometown, was well represented, and always good to see them out in about (and even in bright daylight this time!) Looking forward to seeing them in their normal stomping grounds come October.

Detailed shot of the Captain's (above) back...great detail and costume work.

Of course, there were pirate musicians and bands as well...

Including my friends and accomplices the Sea Dogs......

And that infamous swashbuckler and really bad egg, Captain Jack Sparr....err, Jack Spareribs

General fest attendees...lots of fun people abound at this event, as there usually are in the Bay Area kind of fantasy/recreation scene...

An old high school friend, who always works the local fantasy events....

This lass brought her polydactyl cat to join the festivities! Very sweet kitty, and quite calm, given all the activity and people.

And that about wraps it up...was an awesome event, and hope you all enjoyed seeing just a small slice of it. Definitely shall have to go next year as well.

Re: Northern California Pirate Festival 2009

Nice pix. We went on Saturday! Was pretty interesting to say the least, but our three year-old had a blast. A little too crowded for my taste - food lines were a bear and was hard to push our baby's stroller around. I got the feeling a lot of the participants are the same people who do the Renaissance Faire. I was reminded of the old SNL skit with Shatner at the Trek convention and wanted to yell "Get a Life!!"

WOW! That looks like fun! I'd LOVE to go to one. They had one in New Orleans a few years ago. I begged hubby to take me, but, we were too busy to go.

That cat is mega cool. Looks like he has two extra toes, instead of just one.

Yes, the worms and scorpion are real and covered in chocolate! Come to find out that scorpions minty alcohol taste was actually venom... And dont get me started on the Habanero... Was it all worth it? You bet it was!
