Wild Rivers, Irvine - any recent visitors?

My last visit to this place was around '02-'03. My GF and I were talking about taking her kids next month and was wondering if any recent visitors could tell me a bit about your experiences on the quality and cleanliness of the place.

Last time I was there, things looked fairly good and the slides were a lot of fun. The cabanas were the best part, being a nice wide shaded private tent to relax and stay out of the sun. It was a bit extra (about 40 bucks I think) but well worth it. For older dudes like me, the lazy river winding around an entire section of the park was right up my alley.

Anyway, if anyone has any real-time perspective on the place (and especially if you've been going for quite awhile) I'd be most appreciative.

Re: Wild Rivers, Irvine - any recent visitors?

I went there last year with my wife and two young kids and we had a great time. They all liked it much better than Raging Waters. The parking is very convenient, right in front of the main gate. It was not crowded the day we went, and guests did not look like the gang member crowd. The changing rooms were clean and convenient. The rides were well maintained with a good mix of stuff for young and old alike. A great thing is they had stuff for little kids to do in front of areas that had adult attractions. That way I could try something daring while the little ones still had fun nearby. Wild Rivers gets a big thumbs up from me, but it was only one visit last year so maybe it was just a lucky day for me. Your mileage may vary.

Last time I was there, there was a dead rodent in the landing pool of one of the slides.

Yes, not the cleanest place in the world.

We tried to tell the life guard but just before he turned his head the rat had slipped into the pool drain. It just left a thin dispersing trail of blood.

Sounds like the rat was an isolated incident.

Good to hear that they still keep the place nice and family-oriented. Hopefully the cabanas are still nice and tidy. Just checked on the price and they've skyrocketed to 80 bucks. Yow!

Gonna check with HR tomorrow and see if our company has discount passes.

Yes, I didn't mean to put a bad name to the park.

It just tends to flash like a blinking light in my mind when somebody mentions Wild Rivers.

Overall it's a great family daycation as they call it.

I hear ya. Hard not to walk by the Golden Horseshoe without thinking of the poor chap who once came stumbling out of the place puking on the wooden walkway. But hey.....not like it happens all the time there.

Been to WR many, many times and never had a bad experience there if you don't count the wicked sunburn.
