![]() | Williamsburg/Jamestown Can anyone give me some good information as to how to plan a Williamsburg vacation? Like how many days should we stay, what to see (besides Jamestown and Williamsburg), etc? We've looked at some tour books and websites but we aren't too sure. We've heard it's beautiful and are hoping to go late september/early october and we want to see all that we can while there. Any suggestions are very much appriciated!!! |

![]() | Re: Williamsburg/Jamestown That will be a cool time due to the leaves, but I'm not sure of the schedules of all the attractions at that time (if centered around weekends, etc). I guess it depends lots on what type of stuff you want to go see? No single attraction in the area is really more then one day's worth of visiting... sans the Williamsburg recreation itself. Tho not everyone wants to see it all there and most only do one day there. I guess a long weekend would satisfy most people. But so much depends on your tastes and interests...

![]() | Re: Williamsburg/Jamestown Well, First off, I hope you enjoy your trip! There is a lot to see in the area. You'll probably want to stay in Willamsburg itself, as there are a HUGE number of options there. This will also get you closest to the main attractions. If you want to stay a little off the beaten path (and depending on your budget) there are some bed and breakfasts and a small hotel in Yorktown. Yorktown has a beautiful little riverfront area with a beach, and of course is chocked full of history. Speaking of which, depending on your interest in history the yorktown battlefields are a good stop. you'll want to drive down the colonial parkway to get to yorktown, it's a beautiful drive and will look stunning in the fall. There is also a Coast Guard training base in yorktown (and if you give me a heads up I can probably give you a tour if that type of thing ummm...."floats your boat"...get it...coast guard, floats your....oh never mind). Other things you might want to look at are the Mariners Museam and moniter center in Newport News (about 30 mins from Williamsburg, I highly recomend it.), The Williamsburg Winery (offers a wonderful tour and tasting/meal combo witch is really a great deal), and obviously Busch Gardens. Have a great time! |

![]() | Re: Williamsburg/Jamestown We are looking at going to Historic Jamestown, Jamestown Settlement, Williamsburg, yorktown victory center and yorktown battlefield because we can get a decent price on tickets to all of those if we stay a week. We were thinking about Busch Gardens for a day, but not for $60 per person, not worth it. Unless we can get it cheaper through AAA somehow. How many days does it take to do all of that? It's a 10 hour drive, so we want to make it worth our wile. |
