![]() | Re: Six Flags Over Georgia I saw this on the news this morning. This could be really bad, since when Six Flags New Orleans was flooded due to Hurricane Katrina, the whole park had to close. I have one question: is the whole park flooded, or just the area around that particular coaster (that was what was shown on the news too)? |

Six Flags Over Georgia will re-open pretty quickly as it is a pretty popular park, unlike SFNO. I've talked to 5 people who live in the Atlanta area today and they all said they haven't been effected by the floods. This isn't like New Orleans where the entire city was inaccessible for weeks. From what I recall, Six Flags sits on pretty low land, especially that part of the park. It looks like GASM will need some work, and hopefully it will get it. It's an AMAZING ride. Just found this ... they are hoping to have the park open this weekend: http://www.ajc.com/news/six-flags-hopes-to-145315.html

![]() | Re: Six Flags Over Georgia Wow, this is being blown way out of proportion. It may not seem like it, but this is not entirely uncommon. Park of SFOG is built on a floodplain, and while this is the worst the park has seen in some time, it is by no means unprecedented. A park spokesperson said they have see this before and know how to handle the situation. The park is expected to be open this weekend. The situation has NOTHING to do with what happened to SFNO. There is no link or any reason to worry.

![]() | Re: Six Flags Over Georgia like clinks said.. completely different situations. The flood was simply the excuse to finally put the nail in the coffin of SFNO - the Georgia park is actually popular and still has a customer base after the rains.

![]() | Re: Six Flags Over Georgia Quite true. I don't see this rare weather event cutting the Atlanta metro population in quite the same way NO was vacated - for some pretty obvious reasons.

I hope there was no water damage to any of the mechanisms that operate a roller coaster or other attraction and that SFOG reopens soon! | |
