Fishbulb's Knotts Scary Farm Halloween Haunt meet 2009 Trip report

Another year has passed. The fog rolled back in to Ghost town and the air caught an edge of chilly anticipation. MiceChatters from far and wide descended on Knott's Scary Farm in Buena Park Ca for the opening weekend of the BEST HALLOWEEN PARTY ON EARTH! At Knott's Scary Farm's Halloween Haunt the normally family friendly park is taken over by monsters and terrors of every shape and size ready to scare the bejesus out of eager visitors all the way up until Halloween.

As the normal operating day was ending at Knott's Berry Farm our intrepid group of MiceChatters gathered for the pre-scare VIP dinner held before the Haunt. We had a total of about 50 MC'ers for the dinner. It was great.

I got the Stickers that let us in to dinner

The Clinks arrived

I got to put the stickers on the ... uh... Ladies

PirateMunkee was Jealous

So I gave him a sticker too

Stickin' it to Belle

Indiana Jenn

Disney1978

JonAutopsy cmae by to wish our group well and told us we would see him later

I GOT STUCKED

C'mon gang let's go eat!

The food wasn't bad and the Monsters even came out to say hello!

Creepy Creamed Corn!

A Monster sat down with us and let us know we were all fired.

We all gathered outside after dinner and waited for Rope Drop which was to happen at 6:30. While outside many of our dear friends came out to visit.

Tamasurvivor joined us and he's awesome!

LightTragic

MaryRead and MCow1

PirateMunkee, Princess626 and I are ready for the scares

Okay Pratt55. What's REALLY in that Red Bull Shot?

Joshnya, Pratt55 and Joshnya's fiancee

Loreal an Willie being uber excited and adorable

I R HAPPY

One of my favorite monsters ever!

Another new friend. I love her

Finally we were let loose into the maze of fog and monsters. Our first stops? Pyromaniax (Timber Mountain Log Ride) and Black Widow's Cavern (Calico Mine Train)

Ahh Ghost Town

Our Haunt newbies were getting the feel for the monsters as we raced to the log ride. It was funny. We had such a large group that part of our group was still boarding as the first logs returned to the station.

PYROMANIAX - 5 out of 10
I am a sucker for the log ride. Always have been. Ascending the first lift hill and waiting for one of the figures in the Saw mill to jump at me is a highlight each year. Now, granted we were on the ride before night fell and the lighting effects weren't fully operating outside, but somehow the concept seems played out. No new scares, no surprises, lots of sirens and firemen (not the cute kind).

Our large group of 70 made it out of the log ride and on to Black Widow's Cavern Our group filled one and a half trains. GO US!

BLACK WIDOW'S CAVERN - 5 out of 10
Last year this was a real weak one for me. This year they seemed to have tightened it up a bit. The talent in the ride had great timing and the effects were all hitting their marks. I was in the front car (not recommended) so we mainly heard the rest of the train screaming. Good times though.

We exited the mine train and decided to get a sneak peak at Uncle Bobo's Big Top of the bizarre before the hanging.

The Haunted Sword of Destiny

Monkey Clown=Bad

We entered the maze and not 10 feet in the lights suddenly came up and we were all asked to exit the maze. The Maze went 101 because of a fire alarm. Without missing a beat the monsters began to make fun of us by making cry baby sneers. It was awesome.

Maze 101

We had about 30 minutes before the hanging so we decided to catch Dia De Los Muertos

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS - 8 out of 10
Dia De Los Muertos was a real stand out among the mazes this year. The design work was unbelievable from the layout of the maze to the set pieces and costumes. Too the talent really knocked it out of the park as well. You could tell they loved their maze and wanted to have fun with it. I highly recommend picking up the 3-D glasses as they make the already vibrant colors even more stunning.

It was time for the hanging and, with 10 minutes to spare, we found a great spot in front of the stage. Soon our pal Jon Autopsy came by to say hello to the group.

It was now time for the hanging!

THE HANGING - 6 out of 10
This year's show was pretty solid if a little on the safe side. The Hanging is like watching movies like Epic movie, Date movie or Disaster Movie except it's actually funny. It is a pop culture review of the previous year lampooning the years worst offenders in bad taste. Highlights included Harry Potter opening a Potery Barn, Gandalf leading a Y.M.C.A sing along, a battle between the babies of the Octo-Mom's kids and the brats from John and Kate Plus eight, A Malfunctioning Dragon for Summer Craptastic and a Bollywood style dance number at the end of the show ala Slumdog Millionaire.

AND THEIR DRAGON DIDN'T WORK EITHER LOLOL

We finished up at the hanging and began our Death March. First Stop? Quarantine.

More to come...

Re: Fishbulb's MiceChat KSF Halloween Haunt meet 2009 Trip report

Very nice pictures from the event... I had a lot of fun!

But I have one question... Did you snap any pictures of my alien freakouts in the alien maze? If you did thats cool and all but omg! I was like wow! I am still kinda interested in seeing what pics you got of Lockdown, I loved that maze a lot! As much as I was terrified and very freaked out [especially that gas chamber room] Lockdown was amazing!

And the highlight of the Micechat meet... when Dusty was behind me in line for Bobo's at the end of the death march and he made this comment about how I make him look butch that night when it came to the mazes and scare zones... I was like wow! You all on here are such an amazing group to go to theme parks with and I could really imagine your Disneyland meets are amazing! I need to keep Sundays in mind whenever I plan my next Disneyland trip [which wont be for a while but it will at least be when World of Color premieres]

If I can swing it, I dont want to miss out on next years Haunt meet... but then again the predicament of "gay days" the following weekend is the killer... Oh well... next year I am selecting one or the other and if I do Haunt I do Haunt, if choose Gay days I choose Gay Days!

But this was the most excellent night to do haunt, and for all those people who think they will be too scared to visit haunt... I am as wimpy as they come when it comes to the mazes and stuff but when it comes down to it, its all in having a good time and lots of fun... Oh and laughing off the scare and enjoying that little adrenaline rush from the surprise of it all! And as long as you realize you are having fun being scared its an amazing time... Do not miss out on Micechats Haunt meet next year!

Tamasurvivor, you need to hook up with some of our other crazy Zonies who are actually coming back out for Gay Days this weekend after being at Haunt this weekend. It was great meeting you and I got a good scare of you on video.

Great start to the TR Normie, you did an amazing job of setting everything up and leading the death march ... also knowing when we all needed a break was a good thing.

Oh, and it was Dumbledore leading the YMCA, not Gandalf.

Even though I missed part of it, it was all so fun!
