| Official MC Bouncer ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sunset Market in Oceanside, California About a month ago we had the opportunity to house/dog sit for some friends in San Diego who also gave us some tickets for Legoland. Others have shared trip reports of Legoland so I thought I would save you from having to see our 300+ pictures of fun at Legoland. Instead share a fun thing we did afterwards. Every Thursday night in Oceanside, CA they have a street market semi-modeled after one in San Luis Obispo, CA. It is a safe, free, and fun event that we enjoyed. We arrived around 6:00 it was a short 15 minute drive from Legoland. Our first stop was my favorite 'love shack' in Oceanside. Little Louie's ![]() Our friend MickeyMaxx called Rixter who came out to give us the tour of the Market. ![]() ![]() There was one aisle that had a bunch of fresh produce, flowers and salami. I wish I had taken a picture of the salami and sausage vendor. I never knew there was such a wide variety of salami and sausage available in Oceanside. ![]() Since we had taken 300+ pictures at Legoland our camera battery died but since we were so impressed with this four block market area we went and bought a disposable camera to take more pictures. ![]() So what sorts of things can you find at the Sunset Market? Yoga ![]() Alternative sunglasses ![]() Bamboo trees ![]() Vintage clothing from the 20's thru the 60's. I definitely had the wants. ![]() Stickers pre-made and you could have them custom made also. ![]() These cool graters for garlic/parmesan cheese, etc. ![]() Artwork ![]() Wine bottle holders ![]() Roses made out of wood shavings, in all sorts of colors. I got a pink and a purple one. ![]() They have a kids zone that included pony rides. ![]() and a Disney/Pixar themed jump house. ![]() For those of you who love pets but don't like the care of feeding them you could get one of these puppies. ![]() Throughout the night there were musicians performing that added to the fun. There were a lot more unique shops represented but since we were using film . We were limited on how many pictures we could take. But coming up a little bit later will be some pictures of the yummy food vendors.

On with the food. You name it, they had it. If you are a nibbler you could easily fill up on just all the samples that were provided. I'm not a big sampler but we did try some cheesecake, sourdough bread, white truffle oil, salami, cheese, banana bread, donuts, olives, and more. After Rixter gave us the 20 minute tour we set off on our own and Tim found a stand that he had to get an appetizer from. ![]() He got half a balsamic grilled artichoke with a garlic aoili. I'm not a fan of artichokes but he said it was one of the best he has ever had. ![]() We tried to decide on what to have for dinner but it was very difficult with all the choices: Homemade soul food; mexican food; empenadas, bbq tri tip, etc. It did not help much that every place we looked at offered us samples and it all got tastier and tastier as the night progressed. We finally narrowed it down to Empenadas or BBQ tri-tip ![]() ![]() The tri-tip won just because I got to pick. For under $10 we had a loaded tri-tip sandwich that was plenty for 2 with potato salad and a drink. After some more shopping it was time to get some dessert which was another difficult decision. Fresh tasty donuts ![]() A crepe with nutella, bananas, strawberries, and whip cream on top made by a very energetic lady. ![]() More decisions included kettle corn, fresh funnel cakes, and cheesecake. But we settled on going to Bliniland. ![]() Strawberry and cream filled blini's were an excellent choice. ![]() About 8:45 we showed back up at Little Louie's with a back pack full of scones, white truffle olive oil, strawberry jalapeno jelly, banana bread and pumpkin bread, the best sun dried tomato stuffed olives, roses, one box of "fizzies" candy and a few other odds and ends. MickeyMaxx and Rixter sent us on our way with 3 large bags of 'Fizzies' to share with some MC'er's the very next day. (Tip, cherry fizzy in Dr. Pepper is very good according to kid2) If you are in the area or live within an hour or two drive and want to have a fun Thursday night I HIGHLY recommend going to the Sunset Market. The thing that I loved most about this market is that each vendor was offering something different and unique. I hate when you go to a fair or market place and every 6th booth is a repeat. I'm already trying to figure out when we can go back again so I can stock up on more olives.

![]() | Re: Sunset Market in Oceanside, California What a wonderful trip report, Lisa! Really hits close to home. Glad you and Tim were able to take the the time to fully explore the Sunset Market. Pretty amazing that we are lucky enough to have such a great event every single Thursday night. You know, it's funny you should mention buying those delicious sun dried tomato stuffed olives. I found a jar of them on Rick's desk, and it could be days before I'm hungry again! Quote:

![]() | Re: Sunset Market in Oceanside, California Thanks for posting the pics! Everyone tells me that event is great, but I still haven't made it out. Thursdays we are always super busy (ballet and such). Maybe sometime we'll stop by on the way home from ballet. |
