WaterWorld at Universal closing???

I've heard that the WaterWorlds is finnally closing for good, has anyone else heard this? It would be sad to see it go.

No, it's not true. For whatever reason, this keeps popping up. There are a lot of other attractions that would need updating before WaterWorld gets it.

Random notes/opinions to follow...

This has been a rumour for several years now. Many have postulated that the only space in the park that could ever hold a Spiderman ride would be the Waterworld stunt show. I've heard from at least two people that this idea has even been floated around by the President of Vivendi/Universal.

I doubt it will close anytime soon. For some reason I don't think there's there's enough capital in the theme parks division to spur any sort of multi-million dollar project. The Mummy Coaster was a moderate investment expected to last several years and the Fear Factor live show, while not costing much, has had it's hours cut quite signifigantly now that it's the off season. Additionally, there's no replacement for the Wild West Stunt show. While Waterworld is expensive to run, a replacement is more expensive.

If I were to guess, 2007 would be the earliest any major project would get started...

With so much else being closed right now, they would really be shooting themselves in the foot if they were to close WW anytime soon. They still get the crowds for the show, so let it run a little longer...
