Magic Mountain now more expensive than Disneyland!!!

http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_...c_mountain.htm

Quote:
Park News - (1/10/06) Six Flags Magic Mountain is now the most expensive park in California after hiking their ticket prices this week by $10 to $59.99. This is likely to be both a response to Disneyland’s ticket bump ($3) to $59 last week, as well as the fist signs of change from the new Red Zone team on the board of directors. This can be viewed as both good and bad I suppose. Good in the way that Six Flags has been criticized by discounting their tickets too much to the point that the parks become over crowded with troublemakers and used as a cheap day care option by some parents in the summer. The bad news is that with that kind of price comparison, they are saying to the market that they are offering an experience on the same price level as Disneyland and nothing could be farther from the truth at this point.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! I mean it's about time they raised prices. But $60 to go to DL or $60 to go to SFMM??? Hmmm ...

Re: Magic Mountain now more expensive than Disneyland!!!

Wow, I guess I took tickets the last historic day before SFMM raised their prices! But it was more than just that, everything went up.

http://www.sixflags.com/parks/magicm...nfo/index.html

One day online was 24.99
It used to be 3 and under: free
Children 48'' and under 24.99
Play pass went up to the 59.00 price
And im not sure about the Xtreme playpass

So they basically raised the one day price $5 (since there are always the 2 for 1 offer) and the Season Pass $10.

^ Pretty much.

Not sure if the "XTREME" Play Pass went up or not. This includes parking and 4 fast-lane passes each visit. As well as various discounts.

BAH! This park is SO not worth it anymore even to go for free! I sure as heck would NEVER spend $60!

Re: Magic Mountain now more expensive than Disneyland!!!

With a new flying coaster opening up in a couple of months, I KNOW that Deogge's Mom and I will be getting 2006 Season Passes!!!!, and maybe even the Xtreme Pass at $125. (We would have gotten them last year, but they way we got out SP's, we couldn't upgrade).

For roller coaster lovers, the park is a mecca.

Plus it has a great kids play area, so folks who are fairly close to the park also get Season Passes for that, plus the water park.

Re: Magic Mountain now more expensive than Disneyland!!!

^ Exactly.

And if you get SP's to Magic Mtn. you can get Hurricane Harbor passes for $25 more. Not a bad deal at all.

Sure the park isn't perfect but it's close to home (for me) and you can kill a few hours on a Sunday morning without breaking the bank.

Re: Magic Mountain now more expensive than Disneyland!!!

I am still wondering how it will effect my local Six Flags park... Like I said before... Marine World isn't even close to being in the same ballpark as Magic Mountain in any way... A $ 60 admission price would be insain...

A few years back, we had AP's for Marine World. We used them to get into MM one time on our way to DL for the week. Glad we didn't pay to get in. Haven't been back since. We didn't even renew the passes for MW.

Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ also raised their prices. I'm assuming all Six Flags parks will follow suit.

But nothing has been mentioned yet.

Re: Magic Mountain now more expensive than Disneyland!!!

When Shapiro addressed the us at the employee meeting, he said that when we raise the prices to the park, we would have to raise the quality of everthing else. "The customers won't complain, because at the end of the day, they will say: 'Who cares how much it cost us; it was worth it!' "

We haven't been in a couple of years, but we used to go to Magic Mountain once a year around Halloween. I got $25 discount tickets through work, and that was about the right price for the place for me.

Re: Magic Mountain now more expensive than Disneyland!!!

Oh my GOSH!!!

Lisa (Deogge's Mom) and I had one of our best days at a theme park today.

We went to Six Flags Magic Mountain, and had a BLAST!!!!

We bought our Season Passes (the $125 Xtreme Play Pass version) on line.

We left Tustin about 8:30 AM, and due to the holiday, it only took about an hour to get to SFMM! (LOve the Holiday Lite traffic!)

Got our Plastic SP cards, and the coupon book...

What a great deal, if you get either the $59 Season Pass, or the $125 Xtreme SP, you get the following...

One Free Parking coupon ($10 value)

One Free Friend Admission ($60 value)

One Free Child (under 48") Admission ($30 value)

6 $20 Admission coupons (2 each of three different periods)

4 $1 off carny games

One Free Admission to Hurricane Harbor ($30 value)

Two $15 Hurrricane Harbor Tickets

Plus lots of food and other discounts.

The Xtreme SP comes with free parking each visit ($10), plus a set of FastLane dtickets each visit ($15), plus 20% off Food and Merchandise. The 20% off even is good at most ODV carts!!!!

We rode Viper, "X" (what an AWESOME ride, even if we had to wait about 80 minutes!!!), Log Jammer, the Looney Lodge Ball Room, the Petting Zoo, Goliath, the Midway games, Gold Rusher, Superman, Arrowhead Splashdown, Deju Vu, Psyclone, Batman, Colossus, Scream, a second trip on Golaith, and ended with Granny Gran Prix.

Got a nice jacket, 2 T-Shirts and a hat for less than $60 (including tax).

Spent $10 (5 different attempts) on three games, and walked away with 2 stuffed monkeys and a golden dog (which Lisa named Rover).

Plus got to drool over the new flying coaster Tatsu.

Just wished the traffic wasn't as bad between Tustin and Valencia.... We would visit a LOT more often!!!

Both of us are looking forward to returning in the near future (FYI, SFMM starts daily operation March 18th, and runs thru September 10th).

And a BIG Thanks to all the SFMM employees that made our day even more special!!!!

How can families truly afford these prices, what with absurd parking fees, souvenir and food costs, etc?
Concert tickets going for 50 bucks and more...decent seats at a baseball game meaning about 250-bucks for a family of four...Lakers, Kings, Ducks - probably twice that for lower bowl seats and all the trimmings -
I guess that more people have money to spend than I realized...
P.S. - I guess they have finally realized, in this insane fashion, that DL should be given a higher ticket value than DCA...
