Six Flags Parks are now "Smoke Free Environments"

Finally ... a good move. I know this will probably make some people mad, but if you can't smoke in restaurants, bars, etc, why should theme-parks be any different??? Here is a policy that I hope all parks consider.

NEW YORK, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Six Flags (NYSE: PKS - News) announced today a new company policy under which its theme parks across the country will become smoke-free environments. This measure is the newest element in the company's commitment to improving the family entertainment experience throughout the Six Flags system.
"Our mission at Six Flags this season is to enhance our entire guest experience -- and that includes doing all we can to ensure our parks are family-friendly," said Mark Shapiro, Six Flags President and CEO. "Making our parks smoke-free will be an enhancement to the quality of the Six Flags experience, and our guests will think so too -- nobody should be forced to dodge clouds of smoke when they're strolling through the park with their children. Designating specific smoking zones will allow for a cleaner, friendlier park atmosphere where families can enjoy spending their day."
This initiative expands on current park policy, which states that guests cannot smoke in children's areas, ride lines or waterparks. Designated smoking zones will be set-aside within each park to accommodate the parks' smoking patrons.
Six Flags is the world's largest regional theme park company.

Well, in Six Flags defense, it's not really enforced at Disneyland. As long as it's enforced in lines is fine with me.

Because its outdoors. But I do think this is a step in the right direction for six flags. As long as they have designateds smoking areas everyone should be happy.

I have no problem with staying in a designated area to smoke.

LOL. Six Flags already has a no smoking in line policy. Does this just mean the old rule will now be enforced?

Re: Six Flags Parks are now "Smoke Free Environments"

So what are smokers to do if Six Flags no longer allows smoking or re-entry? I do not smoke but my husband does and I can tell you that it would not be a pleasant fun-filled day with a man who hasn't had a cigarette for 8 to 10 hours. They need to find a balance that everyone can be happy with.

Really? Because I didn't see anyone smoking, and if I did a cast memeber was already talking to them about it...

Usually "smoke-free parks" offer areas inside of the park where people CAN smoke.

Oh, I just read the actual press release and it does say that they will be setting up smoking sections, so disregard my previous rant!
