Knights Tournament @ Legoland closed until further notice

Hey Everyone,

I have been reading these boards for awhile, and finally decided to register.

Anyway I am a Legoland Attractions MC with the park for about a year, so if anyone has any Legoland questions, I would be happy to answer those.

Just wanted to inform everyone that Knights Tournament, the new robotic arm attraction at Legoland is currently closed until further notice.

The ride was being cycled on Saturday morning and it faulted. Something happened to where maintenence could not "manually" move the arms back down into the station. This being a potential safety problem for the guests, it was shutdown.

Legoland has contacted the ride manufacturer in Germany and they are flying someone to California to attempt to repair/reprogram the ride.

So therefore all attractions MC's have been told that Knights Tournament will be closed until further notice.

Any other questions, go ahead and ask...

Re: Knights Tournament @ Legoland closed until further notice

Just an update on this situation, well I have not really heard anything new. Knight's Tournament is still closed until further notice.

I am somewhat disgusted because Legoland, the park I work for, has not to this day posted anything on their website stating that the ride is currently closed. It has been over two weeks. I mean it is not that hard.

Unfortunetly we are getting complaints from families traveling from all over, specifically coming to try this new attraction. They spend the money and get here and lo and behold the ride is closed with no warnings anywhere to be found.

Well I guess I will have to warn everyone, be aware that once Knights Tournament does re-open, it will once again go down for another refurbishment from May 1 - 12, 2006.

If anyone has any questions feel free to post them on this thread.

Thanks,

Re: Knights Tournament @ Legoland closed until further notice

We went last weekend and I was pretty surprised to see that it was closed already. I didn't even think about complaining though. There was plenty else to do that day.

(The ride that was in that spot before, the "flying" one? I always thought they should have themed it Harry Potter and had it be a Quidditch game.)

What's the word on the new pirate area?

The new pirates pirates area, "pirate shores" should be open by this summer sometime. It will be located behind the Garden Green Restaurant. It will be a water-themed area.

It will include the following:

1. A new water play area, themed to look like a pirate ship, including a big bucket that will randomly dump 300 gallons of water on guests.

2. "Splash Battle", a first of its kind ride in the US. You will sit in pirate ship themed ride vehicles going along a track , shooting interactive targets with water cannons in your ride vehicle. Also guests on viewing platforms will be able to "soak" guests on the ride with cannons of their own. Also the interactive targets will be able to shoot water back at you.

3. Treasure Falls, it will be an introduction to a traditional log flume ride for the younger ones. The storyline will be something along the lines of seeing what pirates do on vacation. It will include a 12 foot drop. Each log will accommodate 2 adults and 2 children.

and much more!

Thanks for the updates! Knights Tournament is one of the main reasons that I (and a few other people I know) have a Legoland Membership Plus (annual pass for those who don't know). It's the most-thrilling ride there, especially for adults who enjoy spinning around and going upside-down. Please let us know when Knights Tournament is operational again.

Re: Knights Tournament @ Legoland closed until further notice

I was there saturday. It looked like an interesting ride. I didn't know the suspended coaster was there once. I saw pictures of the suspended coaster on some legoland map from the hotel but couldn't find it in the park.

Anyway, Legoland did have Knights Tournament posted as closed on the ticket booth boards. I wish Disneyland would bring the ride closed boards back.

The pirates area sounds fun. I hope the log ride has lots of lego characters in it.

Re: Knights Tournament @ Legoland closed until further notice

Thats good to know about the boards at the ticket booths. I don't ever make it out to the booths being I am in attractions.

For anyone with kids off this week, we are open 7 days until Sunday the 26th. Then we go back to 5 days a week for awhile. Come on down, although it was very busy yesterday, Monday, close to 10,000 in the park.

I'll post anything new to the Knights Tournament story when it happens.

Re: Knights Tournament @ Legoland closed until further notice

Does anyone else think "Fairy Tale Brook" is one of the weirdest, and most slightly disturbing boat ride attractions out there? Besides the prince on his cell phone and stuff, there just seems to be a weird, moldy, creepy, uneasy thing about that particular ride. Not to mention no one is ever in line.

It almost made me want to go back to Legoland to ride it to see if I could've been wrong somehow. Almost.....

As a MC that works Fairy Tale Brook at least once or twice a week, I don't think its weird.... it could use some upgrading... I mean I so think that they could do much better with the animation elements.

I think it feels moldy depending on what time of year you visit, I mean they only clean out that water once a year.

The smacking lips that you hear as you pass sleeping beauty is creepy. Then there is that guy before the cave of wonders. I guess he is suppost to make the waterfall turn off except the waterfall is never on in the first place. What's with the dead troll in the water? How come he never sits up?

They all killed him. At least that's what the lego people told me.

Re: Knights Tournament @ Legoland closed until further notice

Just FYI,

Knights Tournament is no longer listed on the DFAM (Down for Annual Maintence) list, that is given to all attractions MC's. So the ride should be operating daily now.

Just be aware that the website still lists it as going down for another quick refurbishment in May.

Thanks.

Weather permitting, we'll be there sunday.

I like it on setting number 5!

Our fingers are crossed.
