Legoland California "unofficial" suggestion thread

I was thinking there are many of you out there that visit Legoland regularly. Do you the "guest" have any suggestions or comments on things that you would like to see improved on, added, or removed from Legoland.

This thread is an unofficial suggestion thread. I don't have any weight or authority in implementing anything. Just be aware that park administration DO read these posts and any suggestions or comments will be read and possibly considered. Anyone have anything on your mind?

Re: Legoland California suggestion thread

They need to measure a childs height upon entrance and put a wristband or hand stamp for the height requirement a child meets. We took my 2 year old grandson there and he is just 34" and went on 2 rides , the jeeps and the airplanes but was turned down at the boat ride since he was too wigley and excited to stand still for another height check. Also this would make the lines move faster just looking at tag of some sort than measuring all the little kiddies. And keep kiddies from getting upset when they dont go on the ride after standing in line. We did make a complaint at the guest relations window but the answer was sort of sorry heres a pass for the fairytale boat whooo hoooo! When mentioning wristbands it was well they loose them and take them off , I dont think so lol. And stamps come off in water, well how does Disney reentry stamps stay on when swimming? . Magic I guess.
I also do think they are overly cautious on the rides that parents and child go on together , I was a little dissapointed but it just reinforced my belief that a family experience at Disneyland is more worthwhile.

Re: Legoland California suggestion thread

I can tell you from experience that Legoland used to offer to measure children before-hand and I can tell you it caused alot of problems:

1. Wristbands would get lost
2. Also, people would trade wristbands and give them to other guests causing an issue with the whole process.

So as I understand it that idea was abandoned after those problems arose. I hope in the future though another system can be worked on.

Keep up the suggestions.....

Re: Legoland California suggestion thread

I say hospital type issue wristbands , you know the ones you have to cut off to remove . Or waterproof handstamps. So why is legoland so more caustious about small riders on rides when accompied by parents , rides like the safari jeeps, skipper school, the planes and helicopters? These all seem so similar to Dumbo, the autopia, story book canal..?

The paramount parks here use the wristbands and they work great. If you lose the band.. just get another one. They have several stations around the park where they measure kids and put the bands on.

For the trading bands.. put them on so they can't be removed. The bands are designed to 'self-destruct' if you try to unstick them. For the few that can slide them over your wrist.. its a minority issue. If an operator is really concerned about the size of a child, they should still have their measuring stick if a kid is way out of wack.

I mean.. bars.. parks.. all kinds of admission places use the paper-bands successfully.. why woud legoland be so much different?

Re: Legoland California suggestion thread

All good points, all I can say is this issue should be brought up again with park management, it seems like their should be a better way....

Allow people oer the age of 13 to ride Drving School

Rebuild something in the closed Kinghts Coaster thing (the one that hung on a track)

A Lego History machine where you could select a retired set and they give you pieces to build it. Or at least a section in the museum that features retired popular sets to view

A Space section. Space legos scared me as a child (don't ask me why) but they could make a coaster or dark ride

a Monorail

Dude! Punctuation please! I went opening year too, and subsequent years. You're right, they need some more dark rides. The only real dark ride type thing they have is that little bit at the beginning of the dragon roller coaster. Kind of a shame really, since they can make very impressive figures out of Lego pieces.

They did, it has been open for a long time.

Many issues with that - since once Lego stops making a part they swear its impossible to start to make it again. Many of the older sets have parts that no longer are made. There is lots of other issues with this - but if you want parts go to Bricklink.com

They do, in the Fun Town Market. I love looking at the old Classic Space sets, despite the fact some of them are kinda high up.

Re: Legoland California suggestion thread

They need more benches throughout the Park. Folks DO like to just sit and relax for a bit. They have very nice WIDE walkways, so why not add a few benches? And in the shade would be nice.

We visit the Park four times a year, and since they opened. We've mentioned the lack of benches to guest services numerous times.

What do they have against benches???

Oh well, just my 2 cents worth...

Re: Legoland California suggestion thread

We were there on 6/22/06 and thought the park was nice, but definitely geared to the younger crowd. My kids are 12, 8, and 4. The 12 and 8 thought the park was boring, and we all agreed that the rides were very tame. The only area that the family agreed was worthwhile was Mini-Land. Overall we enjoyed the park, we just felt that it was not worth the $53 a person for adults and $43 a person for children, plus the hour drive from Anaheim up and back, plus the rental car.

If we had to spend our $300+ over again, we would have used the money to get another day at the Disney Parks.

So my suggestion would be to lower the price for adult admission, as I don't believe the average adult can get $53 dollars worth of entertainment from the park.

Re: Legoland California suggestion thread

Just got back from Legoland, and I'm not sure who the primary demographic here is. The park seems to have too few attractions geared towards adults and teens, and since my boy was under 34 inches, there were only three things we could go on or do! Just a waste of money for families to go there.

The things that looked cool, that I wish either the adults, or my son, could have ridden, were the "ride a horse and joust" ride, and the fire truck ride, as well as the jungle jeep safari, but alas, not the right size. I have to say that Disney could learn a thing or two for the storybook land attraction by looking at the miniland attention to detail, as well as the fairy tale boat ride - both of which were very cute.

Re: Legoland California suggestion thread

I just got back from 2 weeks in LA/Carlsbad and my son and I loved Legoland.

We had originally planned to go to Legoland/SDzoo/SDwildanimalpark/Seaworld during the 7 days we were staying in Carlsbad, but we just ended up getting APs for Legoland and going for 5 of the days because we liked it so much (we went to the wild animal park for 1/2 a day also)

My son is 4 and around 44" the park is pretty much perfect for him. The only rides he didnt want to go on was the two big coasters and the testdrive cars.

Things he loved were

Coastersaurus
Waterworks (he would play here everytime we passed by and never wanted to leave)
Sky Cruiser (but we didnt ride this too much because of the long lines),
Fire Academy,
Skipper School (maybe his favorite ride. He loved driving the boats)
shooting water at the riders on the Splash Battle
Hideaways

Maybe I shouldnt say this on my first post on a Disney board, but I think we had as much fun at Legoland as we did at Disneyland (we also went there for 8 days). We live in the Bay Area and I think Legoland is like Bonfante Gardens except with a lot more stuff to do.

Some suggestions I have are:

1) Put in a changing area and lockers near the SoakNSail. We almost didnt go there because there was nowhere to change/store stuff. We eventually went one of the days and just changed in the Family restroom toward the golf area and put all our stuff in a backpack and just put it on the ground and hoped no one would take it (nobody did ). At least lockers would help out a lot since people have a lot of stuff they dont want to get wet.

2) On the Fire Academy, it is hard to move the truck if a single person is pumping the handle. The first time we did it, we didnt even get to shoot water at the fire because the first truck had already finished by the time we got to the fire hoses. Maybe make it easier to move the truck if only one person is pumping or let people still shoot at the fire even if other trucks have finished. Or maybe I just need to work out more :-)

3) A number of times when we playing with the Legos around the park (Playtown and the back area of the Upper deck sports cafe) the Legos were wet. Someone said that was just because they cleaned them. But I was hesistant to let my son use them because wet means potentially very unhygenic when around little kids. I think making sure the bricks are completely dry after cleaning them would be a good idea.

4) Open up the path that connects the Sky cruiser area to the path to the bridge to Miniland. That would make it much quicker to get around in that area. It looked like this path has been closed for a while.
