USJ to open new steel coaster in 2007

2007 - Roller Coaster - (7/20/06) Universal Studios has announced that they will open a new large steel roller coaster in the spring of 2007 at a cost estimated between 5-10 billion Yen. The coaster will stretch from the entrance gate to the lagoon in the center of the park, with a track length of 3937 feet and a top height of 144 feet. The maximum drop will only be 50º and top speed will be 55 mph. Throwing a little confusion into the mix, the description says that the trains’ four cars will carry 36 passengers, but that means 9 passengers per car, which is a really odd number for a coaster. The coaster will run through many areas of the park, and not stay confined within just one themed area. At this time no name, theme or manufacturer information was given for the ride. Anyone know more?

I love how Japan can suprise us with things like this...but I also find it odd that nothing is mentioned about the ride, and I especially find the location odd. How does a large steel beast fit the theme of Hollywood Boulevard?
TDLFan or someone else who has visited USJ...can you fill us in on what is around this area they are reporting?

I put very little merit into anything screamscape reports. When it comes to them, even a blind squirrel occassionally finds a nut.

Not everyone can have a Sheikra with a 90 degree drop....

(and an 89 or 88 for the second drop..)

Yes but most good coasters are 60-80 degrees.

And now the rumor is "a B&M Junior Hyper"...does anyone else find "junior hyper" to be an oxymoron?

Spider-Man is the current rumored theme of the coaster. I am thinking USJ might just make their version of Hulk from IOA. Imagines little Japanse guy acting he is turning into the Hulk. LOL. Don't make me Ang Lee. ; )

/\ Lol. The park just seems wrong for a 144 ft tall coaster though. And with the Spider-Man ride being in one area, and the Spider-Man coaster coming from another...where is the themeing?
Though I guess props to whomever owns USJ for not being skimpy on the park spending like GE.
