Re: Magic Mountain with kids?

I bet the kids will have a great time in Bugs Bunny World. I've found with my two small children, they don't care if it's the fair or an amusement park, they still have fun. I'd recommend getting their version of fastpass for yourselves, it will make getting on some of the coasters faster for you. I'd hit X right when the park opens, and then check which coasters you can't use the fastpass for, if you do purchase that, and hit them next.

I'd recommend Camp Snoopy at Knott's over Bugs Bunny World, but I don't think the kids will have a bad time at all. As far as the food thing goes, I don't like it there at all. I'd recommend going down the hill to a restaurant. It's not quite as convenient as leaving Universal Studios to go to the Citywalk restaurants, but Wendy's and Tommy's are cheaper and better than anything you'll find in the park.

Re: Magic Mountain with kids?

The last time I went (In 2004? I think) I had food in the kids diaper bags. Security let it through. Sometimes I put it in the bottom of the stroller and covered it with a blanket. They never looked in the stroller, just in whatever one bag I handed them, and that was it. I had a huge double stroller. I don't know if you can still get away with it or not, but it might be worth a try (my kids eat a lot of small food often during the day- I'd be sooo broke if I bought food every time). If you are switching parks, you could pack a picnic in the car and eat it in the parking lot picnic area.

As for rides, my kids were a baby and a 3 year old, all the 3 year old did was rode the train all day long. It was the only ride he would ride. I sat on the ground (they lack benches in the kid area by the train) and read a book while the baby napped. Then hubby and I would switch.

I've got my list of every theme park we have to hit before DH deploys again in 9 months, and Magic Mountain wasn't even on the list! (I AM in SERIOUS Disney withdrawls. I haven't been since December, but our APs expired while DH was overseas and I was in FL, and 3 new APs is too much to do at once)
I think we'll definately get the water park pass add-on, because I know the kids would love that!
I live in Porterville also!! We go about once a month. And I agree it is in no way close to Disneyland. But we have taken my 5 y/o nephew a few times. He is not big enough to ride on anything "big" except Ninja but he still has a great time. BBW has a lot of stuff for him to ride and he even gets me on there with him.

Re: Magic Mountain with kids?

Thanks for all the tips everyone...We're heading up tommorrow. The ticket office here on base doesn't sell the two-park pass, so we are skipping the water park this time. Hopefully we will be able to go in the next month before they shut down for the season (or for good...)
There should be enough to keep them entertained, they have a Merry-go-round, which is all the 3 yr old needs! (She screams when we take her off of King Aurthurs!) Add with the thrill of seeing Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles!!!
I should have a trip report by the weekend!
Thanks again!
