Does this look like it is safe??

something tells me that this ride doesn't get much activity if they have this huge 50 ton ride sitting on several sheets of plywood...

Thought I'd share it to see what you think about it...

Re: Does this look like it is safe??

I think the ride is firmly anchored to the ground and that only the loading platform is on the plywood. So unless the rider weighs a few tons I think it's fine and you are being a bit alarmist.

This looks like the kind of carnival rides I try to avoid...loading platform or no, I like my rides to at least appear safe.
Yikes!

Re: Does this look like it is safe??

Now talk about Ghetto... I have never done a screamin swing before.... only because I refused to pay 5.00 just to ride it at Knotts but I would not ride anything that was held with plywood... In fact there was quite a few times I would ride Carnie rides and you would hear something snap while riding it and then realize that the ferris wheel you are riding is only being held by little steel pins that could fall apart any second!

By the way on a side note how different is a screamin swing from any of those other pendulum rides like La revoluvion, Frisbee, Giant Frisbee, etc... the main difference i see is not spinning around but does it pull more G forces or something to make it worth of being charged 5.00 to ride it... what my question really is would be if it basically is worth the 5.00 just to try it on my next trip to Knotts!

I don't trust carnival rides at all, mostly because they are not built to last there ... but to be moved around.

The ride is perfectly safe, as far as building of the ride goes. Its really all dependant on the client and how well they upkeep the ride.

Sorry, I don't ride anything that can be put up or taken down in a day. That includes all carnival rides.

I don't ride anything that isn't disney. Seriously. I'm okay dying this horrible death from a ride at Disneyland but not anywhere else.
