Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace Trip Report

The Wolfpack decided on the spur of the moment to go visit.......

Have never been before. We mainly went to the Festival of Trains, but that's another thread.

An impressive Bronze sculputre.....

Some 60's memorabilia......

A very fuzzy pic of the Berlin Wall.....

Life size figures of Sir Winston Churchill, Charles De Gaulle, Chairman Mao and somehow Wolfette was part of the famous group.....

NASA Spacesuit from a way back when....

Presidential Limo being showed off by the Wolfette....

Richard Nixon's Birthplace that has been restored to "like" new.....

His final resting place.....

The Presidential Helpicopter.....

The Wolfpack then headed off to the Festival of Trains to see the Walt's Lilly Belle, from the Carolwood Collection. Look for that trip report in another forum (Other Disney Offerings).

I always see the signs for the library, but I'm too excited to get to Disneyland to stop!

I remember going there when I was a kid. I especially loved going into the house that he had grown up in. It was so small...it made me think of the Swiss Family Tree House at Disneyland!

Re: Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace Trip Report

glad you had a nice trip.
My favorite is the Reagen library, but then he was my era. So why was there a piece of the Berlin Wall? Nixon didn't say "Bring down that wall" ? Maybe since I am not very familiar with him and what he did besides the "I am not a crook" Watergate.

Re: Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace Trip Report

He was the President during the height of the "Cold War" and was the first President to visit the Berlin Wall before it came down.

Re: Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace Trip Report

I have visited both the Nixon and Reagan Library, and would urge everyone to see them!

Very interesting places.

Did you get a chance to see the gun and bullets Elvis gave him? That is quite a story of Elvis and Nixon.

While i dont agree with much of Nixons politics, I do admire a lot of what he did do. (What he went through in Vietnam was not his fault, that was LBJ's baby) His Foriegn policy was brilliant. Just tripped up a bit on his own paranoia.

We've always meant to visit. I agree that Reagan's library is fascinating so I'll look forward to Nixons. Thanks for the great pics!

Re: Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace Trip Report

Thanks for the great report, Wolffy. I was born in Whittier and I remember when their official city mail carried the stamp of "President Nixon's Hometown".

And yes he did do some important things during his otherwise troubled administration.

You've inspired me to get out to Simi Valley and do a Reagan trip report - they have a model of Air Force One out there now.

Re: Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace Trip Report

Wow, you guys I live about 5 blocks from the Library, and hardly ever visit, though it is a reat library, tip, on holiday'sand on fiesta day's here in yorba linda it is free entry to the museum. I encourage you to check it out, especially since they finished the new wing modeled after the white house. They also rotate the display's at least twice a year to show gowns from the first lady's through the years and other exhibits.
