| Semper Absurda MiceChat News Team MiceChat Moderator ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If Universal bought Magic Mountain Okay, this is PURELY hypothetical ... but just what if Universal bought Magic Mountain. Some changes could come rather quickly and hopefully they could add their quality to the park. In addition to these changes there will be a 5 year plan to complete overhaul the ENTIRE park and add infrastructure to get the park in "Universal" shape. IMO it will probably take 5 years to cure what SF has done to the park. Here is what I think should be done: Name Change: Magic Mountain is now Islands of Adventure Close the park from November to April each year for the first 5 years. MAJOR infrastructure changes. This is where you will do the bulk of the work in addition to updating while the park is open Ride name changes: Since alot of the rides are WB, I can see the following ride changes taking place: The entire are from the Games to Goliath is now an Xmen "Island": Batman is now Storm Scream is Wolverine with updated theming Colossus stays the same, but with an X-men theme Goliath is now Phoenix Some other flat rides are placed in the area and themed to Xmen villains Bugs Bunny World is now Seuss landing. At first a simple retheme with the existing rides and new names. Cat in the Hat and other Suess stuff to follow SOON!!! Samurai Summit get's a "Lost Continent" overhaul. Superman is gone and in it's place will be a highly themed dark ride or Sinbad Ninja is completely overhauled and re-done to a Griffon style ride The Restaurant up there is a Mythos type restaurant Tatsu remains the same but with better "Dragon" theme Flashback is finally put out of it's misery and taken out (this is where Cat in the Hat and other "Seuss" stuff will go eventually) The front area of the park is now the "Toon area" Log Jammer get's a Dudly Do-Rights overhaul and the final drop get's re-done to be like the IOA drop. Revolution get's a Scooby Doo Haunted Coaster makeover complete with new trains. X and Viper are removed in favor of a HUGE family coaster that will be themed to Nick characters (Spongebob, Fairly Odd-parents, etc). Also some other family flat rides will be placed in the area. Roaring Rapids get's the Popeye treatment The area from the games to Psyclone/Deja Vu is now a "Spiderman Island" The Batman Theatre is removed and the Spiderman ride from IOA is built in it's place. Jet Stream is rethemed to Dr. Octopus ride. Psyclone is gone Riddlers Revenge is now Green Goblin Deja Vu is now Venom (with possible re-painting) Some other non-upcharge flat rides are placed in the area and themed to other Spiderman Villains (Sandman, Green Goblin, etc) Of course eventually things like Jet Stream, etc could be removed and new things in it's place. This is just for the first few years to get everything up and running as Universal. What do you think?

I can't wait to see what Six Flags does with Magic Mountain. They are expected (if they keep their word) to announce their plans before the end of the years, which means next week. The park is in such a sad state at this point that some serious changes need to be made - perhaps they should follow your plan! Mike

![]() | Re: If Universal bought Magic Mountain Everything sounds good...EXCEPT for the "taking out X" part. That ride could easily be kept, and themed to something else. I know that ride is a maintenance nightmare, but it is AMAZING!! They should never get rid of that ride, plus it is a great people-eater... P.S. I especially like the part about Psyclone being gone. That ride is painful beyond compare. I thought I was dying on that ride...lol.

![]() | Re: If Universal bought Magic Mountain Eh....sounds mostly like just changing the names of rides. What does Wolverine have to do with Scream? Just doesn't seem like you are changing all that much. The park needs to just take out about 4 coasters. I went this past week and by the end of the day, we all had a giant headache from too many coasters and they all started to run together. Suess landing and a few darkrides would definately help, but the coasters at Six Flags have a catch 22 quality. They are too massive and extreme to theme well and get any type of story or emotional involvement in. So they are top notch thrills, but empty ones lacking the spark that makes Disney so repeatable and memorable. What I would like to see played with is onboard surround sound for themed coasters such as Batman and the Riddlers Revenge. Hear bullets whizzing by and such. See if it improves it or makes it distracting. |

![]() | Re: If Universal bought Magic Mountain I like it...but I agree, too much of it is just naming something something else. I think a huge part Universal is sucessful at it usually they theme things decently...but with the redoing of SFMM I just can't see themeing being possible. Its too haphazardly built at this point, and the areas are far too far apart to even think about themeing. But hey...anything with some structure and long term planning will be better for SFMM than what they have now. But I do like the rethemeing of Riddler's Revenge to the Green Goblin. |

![]() | Re: If Universal bought Magic Mountain Sounds neat. I'm not sure about keeping the "Islands of Adventure" name. What about "Mountains of Adventure", "Mount Adventure", "Mount Venture", or "Adventure Mountain"?? Just tossing names around. I just really can't see "Six Flags Magic Mountain" redone with islands. There's also "Hurricane Harbor", isn't Six Flags selling that as well? Personally, I'm not into riding big roller coasters thus haven't been there in years. Although I do like to watch them . Anyways, I think the park would be better if they just have higher maintenance and better public facilities and such. Who ever buys it or if 6 flags keeps it, this land should remain as a "thrill" park.
