Talking Sea World 12/28/06

Left Anaheim at 10:30 and was at Sea World around 12:30 which included a stop at Costco for gas. The parking area was a mess, cars backed up all the way to the street so it took 20 minutes to get through that. We ended up parking in H7 which if you didn't know, is the very very back far corner of the parking lot. So we hiked to the park and were inside at 1:05. The park which as I was told would be crowded, was very crowded until about 5pm when the crowds suddenly died off. We did each attraction twice, once with crowds and once without (no rides though, it was COLD there). The Shamu Holiday Show was terrific and I video recorded it (complete with our commentary) which I'll put up here in the next day or two. The Clyde and Seamore Night Before Christmas show was also good and funny, I didn't record it because by 8:15 it was 40 degrees in San Diego and I was wrapped up in a blanket.

Oh and the penguins attraction is still not open. In the year 2006 I went to Sea World in May, July, August, and December and it was closed all through that time. Do they ever plan on opening it back up?

The whole reason I went.

I found Nemo!

Even better.. Nemo and Dory!

Eww the drunk Octopus (he was sideways)

They had flamingos out that you could pet, so I did.

Hiya Mr Beluga!

For once he's not sleeping when I see him.

He's got a Christmas tree!

My turtle at home is cuter.

Yep, a reindeer at Sea World. Only one though. Disneyland has like 8.

Next door to the reindeer you could go running around a Christmas tree lot filled with a ton of trees.

Since the other penguins aren't open we opted to visit this little dude.

My most favorite animal on this planet.

So that's all folks and I'll post the video of the Shamu Holiday Show within the next day or two. Have a good new years!

There were many technical issues with the Penguin Encounter rehab that were frustrating to many people who work the area! But don't worry, the work has *finally* started and the exhibit should be ready well before mid-next year! And that's my SeaWorld Insider Tip for the day.

Thanks for the info! I was just frustrated because back in July a parking attendent told me some long obviously fake story about the penguins that led me to believe they'd be back alot sooner.

Yep.. thats the same information I got when I went out there last week. The exhibit is over 25 years old.. and.. they found issues when they started working on it..

So the employee I asked said they were hoping to have it open before summer.
