Is underdog connected to Jay Ward somehow? as a kid it confused me cuz I had no idea who he was... My faves were all the Dudley Do Right stuff though

I always thought the 2 shows were connected too (very similar look.) After doing a couple searches it says they were 2 totally different companies for the Rocky & Bullwinkle show and characters, and then the Underdog show and characters. Like you said Jay Ward for R&B, the Underdog/Tennessee Tuxedo charcters and spin offs were by a different company/group.

One site said they shared a connection by using the same mexican company to animate the shows.

I loved them both pretty much equally, but the Go Go Gopher indians and Savoir Fair were my favorite characters off of the Underdog show.

Disney's doing a live action movie version of Underdog, I don't really know what to think about that. LoL

I loved Bullwinkles, we used to go to the one in Santa Clara all the time, I had a few Birthdays there and we still have a refrigerator magnet from there on our fridge

Re: Themed/Audio Animatronic Restaurants (Chuck E's, Rainforest, etc)

I Remember In Staten Island An Indoor Amusement Park Called Showbiz Pizza Place. It Had An Animatronic Band Called the Rock-aFire Explosion. The Band Consisted of A Bear, a Mouse Cheerleader, A Gorilla Pianoplayer, A Bird In A Can, A Wolf, and The Puppet That The Wolf Holds. The Head of The Puppet Broke off Awhile Ago, and At The End of their Song Cycle, They Would Flash, Go Crazy, and Say On the Screen That If Anyone Is Not in The Shower That Can Fix Us, Please Fix Us. Then, they Flash and go Nuts, Moving Like Maniacs Until It All Turns Off. Once It Turns Off, It Turns On, Which Repeats All The Songs It Sang Before, Thus Breaking Down At the End of Every Interval.

NOTE: The Flashing Is Flashing Lights That Then turn off.
Also, The Breakdown Also Includes A Gibberish Crazy Song hat Goes With All that Insaneness.

Sounds Crazy Right? Right.

There Was Also A Panel With a Button For Each Character On It. The Buttons Didn't Work.

And Here Is the Photo of that Gay Animatronic Band.

The Following photo is The Photo Right From Where I Was Talking About.

haha, those are the animatronics from the old Showbiz place I was talking about earlier. I loved that place as a kid. It was as close as I got to Disneyworld for several years while my family was flat out broke.

Hmmm... your Showbiz seems a lot different than the one we had. No panel for each of the character existed.

However, this could be due to the fact that the Showbiz characters are the same setup that is used for the coin-operated version of the show. They just never bothered to take out the panel. And if you didn't know --- it's true. The Showbiz and Chuck E. Cheese shows are just redressed from a mass-produced generic show that's available in coin-op form.

The First Photo Isn't From The Place In Staten Island. The Updated 2nd Photo Is The Staten Island Place I was Talking About, Only It has A VideoScreen, a Fake Karoke TV Facing the stage, and An Old Panel That Was Never Removed.

Re: Themed/Audio Animatronic Restaurants (Chuck E's, Rainforest, etc)

Useless trivia time.

The music and the voice work for "Fats" the gorilla at Showbiz has a Central FL connection. One of the characters on a local morning radio show (Buuba Whoop A$$ Wilson) wrote some if not all the music and provided "Fats" voice for the Showbiz AA show.

The Chuck E Cheese show also has CFL connection too, The bass singer in 4 For A Dollar( the pre-show a cappella group before Beauty & the Beast at Disney-MGM Studios) has done voice over work for Chuck E Cheese, and he and the radio guy mentined above, both also used to be in an a cappella group over at Universal Studios Florida too called The Hollywood Hi-Tones.

Of course it would have lots of central FL connections. The company that made the animatronics is in central FL.

Re: Themed/Audio Animatronic Restaurants (Chuck E's, Rainforest, etc)

I used to really like the Bullwinkle's in Montclair, California. I would always insist that my mother stop there whenever we were on the 10 freeway. And, you are right. The showmanship in the establishment was infinitely better than that of Chuck E. Cheese's. It was almost on a par with Disney.

The Canadian motif of the place was actually really evocative, but I wasn't sure how Canadians felt about the design.

Looking at the Web-site, the one in Montclair was significantly better than this location in North Carolina. Ours was a fairly convincing lodge.

I live like 10 minutes for The old montclair location.....They still have all the mini golf the go carts, and Batting gages....but they totaly ruined the building ....It was still exactly like bullwinkles until a year after the Bomers switch over...now it is not even worth a visit ...I remember going there for my 4th b-day and my cousins 4th

I was just reading the Chuck E Cheese Wiki and it said that CEC enterprises bought out Discovery ZOne...anyone else remember discovery zone
I remember one in the West Covina Mall Shopping center around 1995-1996

Re: Themed/Audio Animatronic Restaurants (Chuck E's, Rainforest, etc)

This whole kiddie/pizza/show business was started by a gentleman I worked with on-and-off over the years...Nolan Bushnell.

He created Chucky Cheese.

He also founded a little company known as Atari.

FYI...as "cheesy" as some of his animatronics might have turned out compared to Disney...he is a huge Disney park fan, and employed many ex-Disney Imagineers. Yes, his bear show was sort of a rip-off of Disney's. But he would be the first to admit it. He loved Country Bear.
