Van Helsing walkthrough paint job...

The whole show building has received da new pain job to represent a sound stage, I am taking it that it's number '13' is because from now on only haunted attractions will take place there. before this new paint job, it just used to have light blue walls and have cartoon characters from the old marvel mania attraction... Look behind the blues brothers stage and you can see the light blue walls...

It looks a lot better. For the longest time it had those wispy Dr Seuss clouds on the building.

More pictures!!! I love photos from Universal.

Re: Van Helsing walkthrough paint job...

BTW, two of these are from Inside Universal.net first... here is a picture of the theater on the city walk, it is being completely redone, as the hulk and lettering and old box offices removed...

The old Frankenstien resturaunt has been transformed into a photography center.

this is the new entrance to the studio tour...

nothing new here, I just thought this was a good pic.

here are a few other updates:

Revenge of the mummy: two new warrior mummies are added that drop down towards the coaster, also new instructional videos are added displaying what the ride does to warn people that may not enjoy it.

Van Helsing: is to be transformed into a Universal gathering attraction, all haunted tv shows and movies are too be combined into one... (rumor)

Backdraft: closed for refurbishment

JP: two attacking raptors are being reskinned, (and this fall the ride is to be 'enhanced') this is a rumor.

Back to the future: will most likely close before the year 2015 because that is when the story line takes place.

WaterWorld: is to saty open for many more years but is also to be enhanced spring of 2008.

Fear Factor live: is not doing too good, I don't know how long that will last.

T23D: doing just fine, new monitors added.

Animal Actors: pretty much the same. couple of new stunts invloved, show is a bit longer.

Wild Wild West stunt show: line area is being town out and is too be turned either into a new stunt show or a Shrek themed area such as mideviel games and such. which I dont know where that will leave the flinstones area.

Studio tour: Fire in one of the small shop facades.... nothing bad though....

Re: Van Helsing walkthrough paint job...

Jurassic Park is going down for refurb really soon. Either it already is or is going to be down this week coming back up I believe February 16th.

Backdraft recently came back from refurb. They added some flames wallpaper in the exit hallway. Other than that I didn't notice too big of a difference in the show.

On the Studio Tour our guide mentioned that they were picking up and replacing some of the props in the War of the World set. He also said that in the recent storm some of the older buildings suffered some water damage. The most obvious one being the Jurassic Park 2 set that is behind the War of the World crash scene, the roof caved in and you can see it from your tram. Also the cabin in front of Falls Lake was going to be exploded for a new movie they are filming and it is still up in the air about whether they are going to rebuild or not.

My fiance and I go to USH about once a week but we never do pictures. I love how the park is always changing and adding in new touches here and there.

The roof of JP set has been caved in for a while now, I beleive when they put the war of the worlds items there it collapsed, War of the Worlds set on the backlot I noticed had a lot of missing stuff too, but did you ever find out what facade cought fire?? I heard it and saw a report on it on Inside universal.net but it had no pictures....

Do you have a annual pass or something, I used dto end up going there every weekend because that was the only place I could afford a pass... lol, now I go about 2 times a month, but starting in march I will be up there almost every day only at Warner Bros which is not too far away fron USH so I will have a lot of time to take pics and wonder around.

Re: Van Helsing walkthrough paint job...

I'm surprised their is not more universal reports on MiceChat.com since it is so affordable to get in, and is ever changing... (remember when Al Lutz would do updates, and show what was filming/taping)

I didn't even know there was a fire at Universal. I read that some of the facades suffered some damage with the storms and that the Flash Flood was causing some problems but other than that I know nothing. I was there last week and I didn't see fire damage but I think we are going on Thursday so I will keep a lookout for it. I looked for it on Inside Universal but didn't see anything. Can I have the link please?

Jurassic Park is going to be closed January 29th through February 16th.

My fiance and I have APs and are there fairly often. We also got passes this week for Sea World and also have memberships to the Wild Animal Park and San Diego Zoo.

It was in the forums somewhere, I'll have to find it again.

Wasn't this part of the former home of the Marvel Mania restaurant that displaced the storied Victoria's Station? One of the best attractions at USH was the little cable car that carried you from the open lower lot that used to be where the Frankenstein structure is now if I'm not mistaken.

yes it is, infact if you walk all the way through the line while it is crowded, you can still see the dome from the resturaunt, it is still there, they just built this up around it... I'll see if I can find a pic...

Re: Van Helsing walkthrough paint job...

Any chance that US will have a new stage show? I miss the days when they used to have Beatlejuice, The Flinstones and Spiderman Rocks. I hope they get rid of Fear Factory and put in a new stage show there.
