Pretty cool. That is how I remember MM.

Now the employees just wear their shirt about 4 sizes too big as well as their pants about 20 sizes too big.

Also MM is getting a train around the park. I don't know when it open.

Re: Not so Magic Mountain

The train around the park is really a rehabbed Metro (rebuilt is more like it, as the original Metro train manufacturer is gone)

Re: Not so Magic Mountain

Whoever said Dejavu was being closed??? I never heard that. Me=

I think where Psyclone is a nice location for Thomas the Tank Engine area. Six Flags recently got the licence. But their really wouldn't be much room, unless they are really closing Dejavu.

Re: Not so Magic Mountain

DejuVu is currently closed, but I presume to allow for the removal of Psyclone, and should reopen once the construction equipment leaves the area.

It's ironic though that people who are into Magic Mountain dislike Disneyland because Disneyland rides aren't exciting enough for them. On one of my expeditions to Magic Mountain one guy in our group said "I hate Disneyland, the rides are dumb"

Re: Not so Magic Mountain

I actually like Deja Vu. It's a fun ride.

I think they should move Scream out of the parking lot and back to where Psyclone is. Or ... for heaven's sake, some family rides.

Re: Not so Magic Mountain

Dump the pay rides and burn Psyclone. Next, add another GREAT coaster... not kiddie rides or flat rides. SFMM is not known as a kid park and, like Vegas, should NOT change what seems to be the only reason to travel out there. I don't go to Disneyland for thrill coasters and I don't go to SFMM for great theming (paint would help though).

Re: Not so Magic Mountain

I am glad that you wrote this Darkbeer, I have been wanting to go to MM for a while and really value your opinion.

I also agree that they should build more family rides. Roller coasters are good, but I just don't think they can sustain a park with adults-only and kids-only rides.

Sad that this park is owned by the same people who keep the park in Vallejo in great shape (especially the butterfly area!).
To my understanding the City of Vallejo is the majority owner of this park and allows Six Flags minority ownership and opperation of the park.

Re: Not so Magic Mountain

Actually, the City of Vallejo became the owners of Marine World Africa, Usa. in 1999, when the non-profit Marine World Foundation defualt on the mortgage with the city.

The City then hired Six Flags to manage and run the location. Basically Six Flags pays rent to the city to use the land, and it is a major source of revenue to the city. (They basically pay 20% of the revenue collected at the park for rent).

Re: Not so Magic Mountain

Yes and no. In his last investors announcment, he stated that there would be a transportation ride, with three stops around the park. It was believed that he was referring to the Metro, the old monorail systems w/ stops by Log Jammer, Tidal Wave, and 1/2 way up Samurai Summit. As great as it would be to bring back the Metro, the parts which would need to be replaced are no longer manufactured.

So, yes Shapiro said it would be open, but no, it is not feasable.
