 | Riders Stuck Upside Down on Coaster for 30 mins. HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) -- A dozen riders on a roller coaster spent half an hour hanging upside down - 150 feet above the ground - after a power outage shut down the attraction. Spectators cheered when the riders were brought to the ground from the highest point of a loop on the X-Coaster, but one passenger threw up after reaching safety. I think it is kind of stupid that their brakes automatically clamp and the top of a loop if the power goes out, that is just sensless, bad engineering there. I could understand having them closed at the bottom, but at the top of a loop?

| Re: Rders Stuck Upside Down on Coaster for 30 mins. The point at which the X-Coaster stopped is actually part of the lift - it's a weird ride to describe, but you go up a vertical lift then slowly invert before dropping. |
