You are the first person I've heard say that Hollywoods version of this ride was better than Orlando's. Everybody else I've heard from has said that by far Orlandos version was much much better.

Well now, there's a first time for everything...isn't there? Allow me to be the second to express my preferance for the Hollywood version - my family makes 7. It's a small number, but the list is growing even as we speak.

I'd rather much have that acid-trip ride back too.

It was fun! Mummy's really freak me out..

Re: New ending at USH's Mummy

From the videos, I think I may prefer Hollywood's version. Storywise, seems way better. Indeed, bigger and longer doesn't always mean it's better.

But I think USH's Mummy can be longer. If the turntable room was also used as a vertical elevator, sends the cars back into the coaster section twisting and turning through the existing track, then coming back near the previous vertical lift (essentially the blacked out room before going back to the station), and have a short TOT-like drop to end the ride.

It's just a bare description and I'm not adding what the story would be. But I think it could work. A good use of vertical lifts for coasters.

I'll probably check out the new ending tomorrow or sunday.

Re: New ending at USH's Mummy

The only thing I liked better in Hollywood's is it actually had something to do while going backwards. You can't beat real fire above you're head, and the coaster section was much better (forwards) then Hollywood's.

Of course this is about Hollywood getting a new ending! Anything has to be better then the craptacular ending they had.

Re: New ending at USH's Mummy

I'm liking how the new ending sounds, it seems much better then what they used to have.

As for what Mummy is better, to me both of them have their ups and downs. While USH has the better darkride part, USF has a much better coaster section. Not to mention USF has a much better Imoteph AA, and real fire.

Overall I find both attractions really nice, though USH's dissapoints people a lot more.

Re: New ending at USH's Mummy

Recapping my experience on Sunday:

The line went fairly quickly when using both load stations. The indoors is comfortable with the lower temperature.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Now, when you go back into the turntable, it's pitch black, wicked dark. You hear the mummy grouling. Quite creepy. The smoke blows at your back possibly trying to create a fog effect that surrounds you. See a stream of light going behind you. The car turns around. Above the unseen doorway is a screen that projects the eclipse that morphs into the mummy's face that morphs away. Nothing really fancy, quite small. Up until now I think it was just special sound effects, not much music. When the projected face disappears with Imhotep's "NNNOOOOO", so does the sound effects. Silent as can be. Then a clap of thunder and flash of light. The door opens and you go through to the load station. The strobe looks to be flashed at you so you can't really see the room.

For first timers, I'd definately think it would creep them out a bit because you're completely in the dark not knowing what's going to happen. So this takes care of the "fear of the dark".

At the exit hallway with the Mummy murals, they have set up 3 life-size mummys. Not sure how long those have been there.

*END SPOILER ALERT*

I think a problem with the old Faux Fire ending is guests totally know the fire is fake, there's no heat from the "fake" fire, and riders can look down and around to see all the mechanical workings.

The new ending was installed around June 8.

Nope Digital camera.

I am bummed out tho. because after I recored it, we were like "lets do it again" cuz the wait was only like 5 minutes. And I was like "noo i dont wanna record again" and i put my camera away. And then while on it, we broke down on that one room, where you stop and we were sitting there for 5 minutes, and we got to ride backwards with the worklights on. Really cool stuff. I should have recorded it!!!!

Heres the video
