Jurassic Park Ride at universal Studios

I haven't been on this ride, but I watched a ride thru video on youtube. The ride looks really cool and well done in the video. Has anybody here been on it, and could you offer your experiences with this ride? I would love to hear about it.

The ride is indeed very well done, great scenery etc. The whole ride is narrated as you go through, the ride starts off just like the movie, and ends just like the movie to some extent. The drop is all inside and is about 80 feet straight down. Wonderful ride to keep cool on.

Thanks, the quality did look very good in the video... this might have worked well at Disneyland?

JP is fun but I didn't like the drop at the end. I'm not a person that likes 80 feet drops. I have been on both Hollywood and Orlando. They are kind of the same ride with little changes. The bigging was my favorite part.

Re: Jurassic Park Ride at universal Studios

It's a cool ride but try not to pretend you're at a Disney park because you will notice things that would have been done a lot better. But it's still really cool and a lot of the dino saur animatronics are pretty impressive.

Re: Jurassic Park Ride at universal Studios

We went the year it opened at USH and I got soaked when the car crashed down the building. At USF we hardly got wet at all on the ride but still enjoyed it. This past May when we were at USH it seemed like we did not get as wet as our first trip but I think it is one of their better themed attractions.

Re: Jurassic Park Ride at universal Studios

For the summer at USH, the JP ride WILL get you soaked. I kid you not. They have these 2 air cannons at the bottom off the big drop, they shoot out water before the boats splash down so all the water sent to the air will fall on the passengers at the right moment.

I'm not sure if this was installed before, but it's cool.

One of my favorite parts of the ride is the floating, abandoned Mickey Mouse ears in the water (they've been placed there purposely and are anchored down). I've never been able to get a good look at the name embroidered on the back of them, but I think it's kind of funny, and an intriguing poke at their competitors.

Re: Jurassic Park Ride at universal Studios

I love the ride there are only a few things I don't like about it.

First, my wife won't ride it with me. She hates the drop so I have to ride alone. I hate going to the park with her and then having to leave her waiting while I ride. IOA really needs more family friendly attractions. Funny thing, she loves ToT but this scares her. I'll never understand this woman.

Secondly, the effects at IOA aren't working in sync and it takes you out a bit. When you come through the door to Jurassic Park half the time the big Brontosaurus is just laying there for a few seconds before he comes to life. He really should start moving right before the doors open. Similar problem with the T-Rex at the end of the ride. You see him laying there dead before you trigger the sensor and bring him to life. I think Hollywood fixes this problem by having lots of fog effect that keeps him hidden until you get right up on him. I don't know why we can't get that in IOA.

Other than that its a very quality ride, just wish there was more in the Jurassic Park area other than that and the kiddie ride.

Amen and amen! Still, this is one of my all time favorites. It's very much like WDW's Splash Mountain (not DLs) in terms of ride vehicle and track. The drop is great and the animatronics are very cool.

Re: Jurassic Park Ride at universal Studios

I never rode it until I went to IoA. I had been wanting to experience the ride for quite a long time -- and then I finally did and I was rather disappointed.

Too short, too predictable. Didn't get you quite in the mood that it needed to get me in. The ride has always left me too dry. Animatronics just didn't live up to the ones seen outside of the ride.

Maybe she doesn't like to get wet? But she'd rather go on a 13 story multiple drop elevator ride than an 80-85 foot single drop that gets you wet at the end. Maybe she has a preference between the different moods of the rides... Honestly, I've only been on TOT a couple times. I don't like drop tower rides. I've been on JP several times. I never been on DCA's Maliboomer. heh...

JP ride always puts me in the mood of the movies. I prefer USH's version, honestly. But the summer time WILL get you soaked, that's a gurantee.
