LEGOLAND California to offer "Pirate Shores Family Camp"
I just found this via the Los Angeles Times "Theme Park blog"

Re: LEGOLAND California to offer "Pirate Shores Family Camp"
Do you think they will let us park our motorhome among the tents??? hehe
Sounds like something that we'd sign up for. But check on the motorhome thing, just in case... (j/k) Thanks for the scoop! |

Sounds like fun, sign me up, Legoland is really coming on strong now.... they just need to extend their park hours to be open later...

Re: LEGOLAND California to offer "Pirate Shores Family Camp"
As far as extending any park hours... not to happen anytime soon...
The attendance is good... but not nearly enough to justify being open past maybe 6... on the off season and definetly no more than 8 during the peak season. Even with extended hours, the park is empty by one hour close to closing... I don't see hours being extended until attendance reaches a much higher level. I don't know how the camp setup will work... before the park opens their are carts and lots of foot traffic, to get the park ready for opening.. Not to mention maintenance needs to have access to that area to clear the rides for operation... unlike other theme parks... our rides arent inside a building, where we could lock the guest out until its clear. Wonder how it will work... thmprkinsder

Sounds like an interesting concept. Will be interesting to see how this will work.
But the logistics of setting up and taking down 85 tents per day has got to be huge.

Actually this sounds kinda cool (and potentially cold, it doesn't stay warm at night down there does it?)

Re: LEGOLAND California to offer "Pirate Shores Family Camp"
When I told the kids about it, they got excited!
We'll be waiting for the official word on this. Maybe they'll do like before and invite the Ambassador AP'ers first for a preview "sleep-over". As far as the tents go, if they go in where I think they will, they will probably keep them up 24/7 for the "season". No need to take them down and put them up every day. Our fingers are crossed... |

Re: LEGOLAND California to offer "Pirate Shores Family Camp"
I'd be happy with the park being open until 6 so it becomes an 8-hour day. Closing at 5 just seems too early, my kids are just getting into the Legoland groove at that time and can definitely go longer. Also closing at 5 leaves little time to get dinner in the park since all the food shops close by 4:30, and I like quite a few of the Legoland food options. It's a great park, here's hoping for increased attendance so it can stay open longer soon.
