Re: Universal Studios Japan

It's more like USF. With exception of the fact that there is a WaterWorld at USJ

Plus Snoopy Studios, Animation Celebration, Sesame Street 4-D, and Back to The Future is still there for now.

Universal Studios Japan is a more stylish copy of the Studios park at Universal Orlando. It is a park that benefited from the nice theming they learned with Islands of Adventure, therefore a more elegant experience.
They have the usual popular rides that are hits at USH, USF and IOA... Major draws are... Spiderman, ET, T2:3D, Jurassic park Ride, Jaws the ride, B2TF, and Shrek 3D. Some of the classic shows are here as well but updated with better effects and productions, such as... Monsters Rock show, waterWorld, and Backdraft. USJ also offers some unique stuff of their own not avail at the other parks.. Animation Celebration with Woody Woodpecker, Snoopy Studios (with several rides and a coaster and water slides for kids), "Sesame Street 3D" movie, Land of Oz (currently presenting a condensed version of "Wicked: The Musical", an Oz themed animal show and an Oz carrousel. The newest ride is "Hollywood Dream", a cool coaster high speed ride above the Hollywood Blvd. area of the park. The coaster lights up at night to resemble a shooting star thur the night sky. Riders can also choose from a menu of song to play individually for you during the ride.
Other unique offerings are the multi-million dollar day and night shows. "Fantastic World" is a brand new daytime streetacular paying tribute to the Earth and nature. At night, "Peter Pan's Neverland" is presented to packed house at the edge of the lagoon (think of this as the Fantasmic of USJ).

However, what I feel sets USJ apart from the other Universal properties are the theming and thought gone in their restaurants and shops. You will find a huge variety of food, sovenirs and themes unique to this park alone. USJ also offers the highest number of streetmosphere performers around. More than even TDL or TDS!

GO visit it. If you love USH or USF, you will have a blast here... One word of caution.. this park gets very crowded during holiday periods... arrive there early and if you can afford it, buy the Universal Express (front of the line) ticket booklet. It will save you lots of time during crowded days.
Have fun!

Re: Universal Studios Japan

One my Japanese friends was telling me she once spent 3 hours in line for a roller coaster at USJ. She said it was the weekend, and I would guess also a holiday period, so personally I would take TDLFAN's advice and either avoid it during the holidays, or pay extra for front of the line priviliges.

Re: Universal Studios Japan

I went to USJ during Theme Park Review's Japan 2007 trip. Here's my video of it:

I would say it's worth visiting. It's like "Universal Studios Enchanced." The rides are tweaked from their original version.
