Re: Universal Studios Hollywood: What Needs to be Done?

They tried Spider Man.... not so much as stunt work, but they have done spider man before.

I hope WaterWorld stays seeing is how a lot of stuff was recently re-done on it.

However, I would say how about putting in new attractions based on UNIVERSAL films.

Not Fox, WB, and whatever else they have recently come up with.

That whole Harry Potter thing at IoA just makes me want to dig a hole and bury myself.

I agree, but unfortunetly Universal hasnt really had any blockbuster movies to date. They're not going to do a ride based on "Knocked Up". Although it would make for an interesting premise.
How about a "Heroes" attraction?

Re: Universal Studios Hollywood: What Needs to be Done?

well, they have room to add a rip, rockit hollywood ride like they are doing with USF, all they have to do is put the queue inside and let the roller coaster go through citywalk.

Re: Universal Studios Hollywood: What Needs to be Done?

The only plausible place I think Universal could install an outdoor coaster in Hollywood similar to what is planned for florida, would be if it was in this corner of the park, where the giant fountains are. Nobody is ever there and its the only place with enough room for a station and queue that wouldn't need to remove any other existing attraction. I could see how thrilling it could be with the coaster going over the edge, and it would add some much needed kinetic energy to that corner of the park.

I think they need the Twister ride from Florida. Twister is personally one of my most favorite movies ever. Ive watched it almost every month since I was a little kid. It's just so cool.

I've seen Twister: Ride it Out! and I think Backdraft is much much better, besides why add a movie that is already hella old for it just to get outdated so quickly. One quick question, i'm going to Universal this saturday, anyone know if Fear Factor Live is in season right now?

wouldn'tan outdoor coaster be pretty implausible in California? I mean if I'm not mistaken most of USH's attractions are built with the idea of minimizing the noise that leaks through to the actual studio. I can't see a noisy coaster being built were it'd mess with the overly sensitive mic's filming some film or other.

Personally I keep thinking what USH needs the most is it's own spin on the whole interactive shoot em up Darkride concept. Of course I doubt MiB would ever get built in Hollywood but honestly something repeatable like that would really round out their offerings and help with the repeatability of the park.

Right now the park just seems incredibly show oriented to me, and you can only do so much changing that up every year.

That's a good question, sadly we'll never know.

Yes, Fear Factor is in season right now, at least it was 2 weeks ago.

USH will never have an outside coaster, for the reasons you just said.

If it's on the lower lot, goes doen the hill, etc, it's too close to the studio.

If it's on the upper lot, or in Citywalk, too close to residences.

Having explosions from Waterworld 3 or 4 times a day is one thing, having screaming coaster riders every 90 seconds is quite another. I guess they could always use Scream Shields.

You don't want it. Trust me. Ghostbusters was way better before Twister took it over.

wow... Suddenly I'm imagining Ghostbusters would be the perfect answer to Disney's Midway Mania ride (granted Midway Mania is a take off their Spiderman but hey Midway Mania is interactive)

imagine a ride were you sit in vehicles and catch 3D ghosts, the theming would be so easy. You could even have a few 4D effects were you get "slimed" lol

I don't know what the old Ghostbusters thing is but I suppose I just view Ghostbusters as one of those more timeless movies, or at the very least a classic that everyone should see (I prefer the first to the second of course but seems like more have seen the second somehow)

sw33t sw33t Scream Shields, what can't they do?

I suppose they could just make the whole thing in a tube and then theme it like how some parks theme water slides? Of course then it's almost indoors though not quite? (halfdoors?) and you'd still have noise coming from the ride mechanisum itself

Seeing that Universal Hollywood doesn't have to many attractions to last a full day, this theater should be brought back. Not necessarily bringing the Wild West show back but a new action stunt show just so people can have a bit more to do in the park, besides, leaving this theater abandoned is a bad show on Universal's part buy just letting it go to waste.

Where was this located?

I think they could build more rides! Maybe on the lower lot build a dark ride themed to "Madagascar," which has a sequel out soon. It could replace Backdraft...

Ooh...since NBC owns Bravo, they could replace that museum thingy with a Project Runway Runway Swag museum/store and Top Chef Cafe!

And maybe even replace Fear actor-Live with the Spider Man ride from Florida

Other ideas:
A high-speed indoor roller coaster themed to NBC's "Heroes"
America's got Talent-The Show (located at Hollywood Palace Theatre)
Maybe a smaller version of that Harry Potter mini-land from IoA....Maybe build it by Terminator 2:3-D?

A Madagascar dark ride, oh god, please don't, i'd take a clone of the Spider-Man over that any day.

It was located and still is near Shrek 4D.

The last thing I want to see at Universal is Harry Potter... I get chills just thinking about it.

I don't expect to see much done over by T2:3D because its built directly on top of one of the parking garages, and too much weight was already an issue with the opening of T2:3D.
