A farewell to a small Water park in california

I have been there only once in my life, but this is a thread to say farewell to a water park in So.California Known as Wild Rivers.
As Most of you may know, Wild rivers lost its lease for the area last year in 07, but a young child was able to get the Park 1 more year for opening before its demise.
Whats it going to become? Affordable housing and a few buildings.
I have no idea what to become of the Concert area that is next to the park, but that will probably be gone too once the summer season is over.

It was a cool but small park with alot to do for those who have young children or not a fan of thrill slides.besides the usual "lazy river" and thrill tube rides, there were wave pools, small slides and a few stations for water gun refilling(some kind of inflatable balloon water guns were sold in the park).

I was last there in June 1999, when their last ride then, The Patriot, was still under construction. Most of thier rides were named after jungle theming.

irvine and other So.California residents still have a few areas to go to for water fun in terms of parks
Examples:
Soak City Usa(buena Park, Palm springs)
Pharaohs Kingdom(Redlands)
Raging Waters(San Dimas)
Hurricane Harbor(Valencia)

So this is goodbye to one of californias water parks of the decades.
once a Drive through Safari,to becoe a small, but popular water park, and now that area will be a area for living

I'll miss it! I was there this last summer and the whole time I was there I knew that it would be the last time. the real bummer for me is that I'm pretty sure that Verizon Wireless Amphitheater goes down with it and I saw my first real concert there!

Re: A farewell to a small Water park in california

This park has been "Rumored" to be closing for the past 3 or 4 years. Is there anything official from the park itself?

There is NOTHING on their website, no news stories about it closing, etc. You would think if it was indeed their last season they would be letting people know so they could get their last visits in.

My guess, we'll be hearing this same rumor next year, as we have for the past few years.

Here is a story from last July stating that the park was closing after LAST season:

I'm not saying it's not happening, or trying to create drama, but I'm doubtful.

Re: A farewell to a small Water park in california

But that was a year ago, and the housing market has dipped BIG TIME since then.

Again, I'm not doubting that it's true, but I want to see something current, and some announcement from the park.

I've only been there once, and it was about 20 years ago right after the park opened. I thought it was great. I've been wanting to get back, but just never found the time.

The Park reopened on May 24, 2008, SO go and show you want to keep it around for many Summers to Come! I live in the I.E. All my life and Pharaoh's sucked anyways. The Rides to the water park, bad management, to the arcade. All sucked and wont be misses.

I can practically see Pharoah's Lost Kingdom from my house. Unfortunately, it is quickly becoming an eye sore. I really hope they find something to do with it soon. That water park has been a source of controversy and arguments in Redlands since they started building it.
