Re: Huge Fire at Universal Studios, CA

As far as I know, those areas weren't close enough to be touched.

Re: Huge Fire at Universal Studios, CA

The fire was in the lower backlot. The Psycho house is in the upper part of the backlot.

Yeah, that's the MTV Movie Awards. It's going on right now, just flipped it to MTV to check.

This image from The Los Angeles Times was posted by user modpro on another forum. This shows the fire damage in correlation to the other sets.

I was coming home from Gardena when I heard about the fire, the traffic was backed up pretty far...

I heard the Back to the Future outside sets were also destroyed. Could be the same area as Ghost Whisperer.

Back to the Future and Ghost Whisperer share the same set, the courthouse.

Re: Huge Fire at Universal Studios, CA

The Park was closed and they kept saying it would open at noon, then 1pm then it was announced over the PA that the Fire Marshall would not allow the park to open as well as City Walk. Both were closed all day.

What upset me the most is the reaction of the stupid people who went up there anyway and milled around, hung around the gates hoping to get in. Then when the announcement was made all you heard was these people complaining that "my day has been ruined. I came up here from [insert city name - somewhere within a 20 mile radius] and they have ruined my day, the Park Is Closed!!!! Are they blind as well as stupid???? They can't see the ugly and smelly black smoke pouring out of the Universal Back Lot. Their Day Is Ruined!!??? I think Universals day was ruined far more. Stupid Mudbloods! Their day was ruined! I can't believe how stupid and selfish people have become.

The problem is the vault burned down.

I can't blame them. Universal President and CEO said originally this morning that the park would open at noon as planned.

Yeah, this morning the PR guy said they would open at 9. This was at about 7:30 on the Channel 4 news. I took one look at the pictures and knew they wouldn't open that early. But they all expected that they would have it fully out by then, but with the tapes and stuff burning, it was uncertain.

Sure, Universal dropped the ball by not just saying "Were closed today", but people also need to use common sense.

I can't blame them either. Imagine planning a trip for Disneyland for eons, then coming to find out it's closed. Would piss you off too, wouldn't it? And keep in mind, no one died, so it's not like they're being disrespectful...

Re: Huge Fire at Universal Studios, CA

Courthouse Square keeps getting destroyed, but the Courthouse itself is spared for a 3rd time. Lighting , Fires and new movies can't destroy the courthouse.

Cool site on USH
