Tech Takes kids to Knotts... 6-7-08

On Friday our 5 month old had her shots. So yesterday, I decided to take the 3 older ones to Knott's in order to let my wife, and the baby, get some rest. I had a coupon, and we had already talked about getting Knott's APs. The main thought is that we live 3 minutes away by street, and we have Deluxe AP's to Disney... so this can fill in the gaps between blackout dates. It also has the coasters I enjoy, so we can get a babysitter and Mom/Dad can have a little local time to ourselves.

Let me preface this by saying that I have not been to Knott's in at least 6 years. 6 Years, lots of changes. As exciting as all the new coasters are, my little ones can't ride them, so to me they were pointless on this trip. What did bother me was the condition of the Camp Snoopy restroom, complete with overflowing toilet, paper strewn everywhere, and 3... not 1... not 2... 3 beer cans in a stall! Despite this, I put on a good face, and the kids had fun.

We started with an absolute classic... Stage Coaches. I had memories of riding this as a kid.

Then it was off to the Red Baron.

Now as happy as she appears in this. She was actually screaming off and on, and upset. Because she didn't get a red plane, and she had to sit in the back. I was given the option of switching her with her sister... but I really do not believe in giving in to tantrums... all in all she had fun though.

Re: Tech Takes kids to Knotts... 6-7-08

Couple rides out of the way, we headed to GhostTown to get a bite to eat. For me the cafe brought back memories of being in college. Lots of wonderful memories. Also special thanks to our server who continually filled all of us up on Boysenberry Punch... he also recommended the Bounce House and Huff-n-Puff as good places for the kids to burn it off!

The next was another classic, the Calico Railroad

I have to say, I was very disappointed in how little there was to see on this. This used to be a lot of fun, and has since been neglected in favor of the large coasters.

Re: Tech Takes kids to Knotts... 6-7-08

As the classic memories continue, we walked over to Huff n Puff. I have no clue why kids like this. To me it is like Canoes at Disneyland... you are paying to work out in a park! But the server was right... it was a great way for them to burn off some of the Punch. As you see they started out great

But then my youngest decided she would rather wave then push/pull... so the gaps became this

Next stop was the Log Peeler. I do not remember this as a kid so I think it is a newer addition.

We also did the big trucks... no pictures... knees still hurt... Then we trekked over to Fiesta and onto the Carousel.

Re: Tech Takes kids to Knotts... 6-7-08

The last ride was the Calico Mine Train... a favorite since childhood.

So ends our first trip to Knott's. One of the major drawbacks was the inability for a parent to take 3 kids on a ride... so in the future my wife and I will both go and we can trade them out!

You would have loved Knott's when I was little. It wasn't DL, but it was a lot more like DL than it is now.

Great pics TS! It seems today more and more that one needs an immunization before going to that park!

Glad to see you all liked the Calico Mine Ride. My 9 year old thinks the roller coasters are too extreme so when we go it's pretty much Camp Snoopy and then the train and the Calico Mine Ride -- over and over and over again! But that's ok. At least its the most "Disney" ride in the park.

Looks like fun was had by all your little darlings and you are a brave man taking 3 little ones by yourself....I know some moms who wouldnt attempt that and one Grammie who would no way take my 2 little grandsons by myself.
