Knott's Take 2! 6-14-08

After a rather large shock the previous weekend, I decided to use the pass to try this again. We had not bought my wife her pass yet, and as usual we found ourselves bored on a Saturday so off we went. We arrived at the park around 10am, and were shocked to see a line out the door for individuals purchasing AP's. While my wife waited in line, I moved the car out of the 3hr parking, reparked it in the lot, and overall watched the kids. I took these while we waited.

Once in it was off to Ghosttown for a bite to eat. My wife for some inexplicable reason had never had boysenberry punch... so this is now a family tradition.

Re: Knott's Take 2! 6-14-08

Now that we had some food it was off to the Calico Saloon for a show.

Sadly by the time we arrived the place was packed... but we made the best of it.

That is my daughter at the bar. She LOVES music and dancing. While I was a bit embarrassed at how much she liked the can-can... one of the girls gave her the garter

This became her prized possession for the rest of the trip.

Re: Knott's Take 2! 6-14-08

The Calico Mine Ride is still an all time favorite. It is something that holds childhood memories for both my wife and I... as well as new memories for our own little ones.

I have to be honest, the queue for this ride puts most themed western themed queues, even those of Disney, to shame.

Between the waterfalls, the stream in the queue, the old equipment and the old shack... it makes the ride!

You can tell by their faces how excited they are. They LOVE this ride... and while many things at Knott's have changed... thankfully this hasn't!

Next up was another Knott's classic. The stagecoach. Amazing how something so simple can have a line so long for it.

Now that we are 5... and not 4... we ended up on the inside instead of on top.

Somehow our trip ended up in Camp Snoopy... might be because of the Red Baron

Then off to Huff n Puff

Sadly this time they didn't put the littlest one in front... so the attendant did a lot more pushing then the 2 year old... I'm sorry... I felt bad about it.

Although brother did help with a bit of a bump...

Our final ride was the Log Peeler... we would have stayed longer but the heat and the crowds became too much.

On the way out we stopped for ice cream. I didn't realize that at the Carnation they practically give the stuff away... seriously... that was a LOT of ice cream.

This is a single scoop of Chocolate

Cute baby shot

And big sister

Re: Knott's Take 2! 6-14-08

Something I wanted to note. My little ones did end up using that same restroom in Camp Snoopy which horrified me on my last visit. This time I was expecting the worst and found it to be immaculate. We went back 3 or 4 times (potty training at it's finest) throughout the day... every time the same amazingly clean condition. While the kids were in various lines with my wife, I had a chance to walk around Camp Snoopy for a bit. I ran into a Manager and had a quick conversation, complimenting the cleanliness of the park. I explained what had happened the week before, and his face changed. He explained that they had received so many complaints, and had honestly "dropped the ball". He said that it had led to a cleaning spree throughout the park, and that that situation would never happen again. He apologized that I had walked in on it, and was grateful that I had said something about it. This left me with a greater appreciation for Knott's. My initial report blasted this specific topic, and as it turns out I happened to have caught them at their worst. I am glad that this situation was addressed, and hope tha Knott's continues to hold high cleanliness standards, especially in Camp Snoopy with all those little ones around.

Thumbs up Re: Knott's Take 2! 6-14-08

for the report and the photos

Not to take away from the kids' enjoyment, but Knott's sure isn't the same for kids without the petting zoo, haunted shack, and Bear-y Tales.

Have you ever taken them to Adventure City?

They're too small for thrill rides. In fact it was a bit disheartening that there were height checks on various rides in Camp Snoopy. Overall they had a lot of fun.

We hope to catch the Wild West stunt show next time. I also owe my son a ride on Bumper Cars, we haven't done the Log Ride, or the Train... so there are several that we have yet to do. We also want to do the Old West photo. We have 3, one when we were dating, one when my son was a baby, and one when my oldest daughter was a baby... now we have 4 little ones... so it's time for a new picture.
