![]() | On Saturday my wife had to attend a baby shower. I'm not one to stay at home so I quickly made a phone call. I convinced my wife to take the baby, and within the hour my Mom stopped by for a day trip. I'd read about Adventure City on here, but never been there... WOW... while slightly expensive it was worth it. This place is a mini Disneyland of sorts as every area is HIGHLY themed. If anyone reading this has toddlers or preschoolers they will likely LOVE this place. Our first stop was the Rescue Ride. It's "queue" is a police/fire station. On the wall they have various police patches from all over CA. On another wall they have the classic wood Fireman lockers, complete with helmets, boots, and hats. Then we stepped out, and on to these ![]() ![]() ![]() It was hard to manauver but I did get one quick action shot ![]() That out of the way we headed over to the "Giggle Wheel" which is a mini ferris wheel of sorts. It would have been big enough for one of us to ride with the kids, but it was easier to just let them go ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() | Re: The Adventurous Adventure City Then off to the Carousel. Yes... even in Adventure City these kids manage to find a Carousel to ride! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Snack Time. They actually have a good menu, because of the heat we bought the kids some fruit and apple juice. ![]() ![]() I mentioned a while back that my son did Splash Mountain. Ever since he has wanted to do a rollercoaster. Well, they have a kiddie coaster there so I thought why not. Back to that theme comment, this coaster is themed like a freeway, so each car on the train is themed as an individual car. It was a tight squeeze, but I somehow shoehorned myself in there. I only got two shots because the rest of the time I was holding my youngest and winching from pain as my knees pushed the limits on what that car would hold! ![]() ![]() ![]() My son loved it, my younger daughter liked it, my middle one pictured above with my Mom... HATED IT... so while two had fun, the third screamed to get off.

![]() | Re: The Adventurous Adventure City After some fun on the freeway we decided to go to the Barnstormer Planes. Again hats off to the designers for a couple reasons. For one the entrance is through a mini airport. Also the airplanes are designed so a parent can ride in it WITH the kids. This is something both Disneyland and Knott's could learn from this little park. Sadly I was too big, but my mom got to go. ![]() ![]() ![]() But as fun as a plane can be nothing will beat a Balloon Race. These Balloons were AMAZING, and made those at Knott's, and to an extent even Flick's Flyers, pale in comparison. ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() | Re: The Adventurous Adventure City One thing I loved about this little park, they had a Petting Zoo. The cool thing is they also provide brushes... so the kids got to brush the animals. Also they had chickens, as well as a tortoise. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So, doubling back we went on the School Bus ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() | Re: The Adventurous Adventure City Great TR. And to think, a year ago, they were going to tear it down and build condos.

![]() | Re: The Adventurous Adventure City Then we ducked over to Crank N Roll... where I had a lot of fun. Due to liability I know Knott's can't let you "walk the track" and help your little one. Here, they did, and I was able to get some amazing photos of my 3 little ones having a great time. They actually rode a couple times... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then, from toy train to Express Train. I couldn't get a shot of the oldest but here are the girls. ![]() ![]() ![]() While Grandma took the girls back to the Carousel, I took my son to Treetop Racers. Not bad, I think he would have liked it a lot more if he could see (he was too short to really see out of the car). Then we came back and rode the Carousel with them ![]() ![]() ![]() And then another spin on the Rescue Vehicles ![]() ![]()

![]() | Re: The Adventurous Adventure City Now at some point I hope to go down to LegoLand. You see I was a HUGE Lego builder as a kid. I have only been there once, when I turned 18, so I really want to go back. I have no doubt when I do, the TR will probably be filled with pictures of me building! This was the kids in the Thomas the Train area ![]() ![]() This is one of 2 buckets for "free play" ![]() And this is what happens when Daddy starts playing! I had "runners" which were kids, including my own, who would go to the buckets looking for specific parts... ![]() The actual attendant was impressed... I would have done even more but the little ones were tired so we called it a day. All in all a LOT of fun. My only complaint is that they did not have any sort of AP, because as I said it was a bit expensive.

![]() | Re: The Adventurous Adventure City I was pretty sure your kids would enjoy it. The photos from the Balloon Ride sure prove that. I've read on some board that displays from Mott's Miniatures were moved from Knott's Berry Farm to Hobby City. (I know that some parts are in the hands of private collectors.) Has anyone ever seen something of this old attraction here? |
