Kid's did Log Ride

The trip was so short it wasn't worth doing a TR... just wanted to let everyone know that the kids did the Timber Mountain Log Ride. Our "high strung" daughter wanted to sit up front. I was not overly worried about any of them but what you can't see is that I am holding her shirt with one hand and holding her sister with the other.

Special Thanks to my wife's best friend since my scanner died and we had to use hers.

Wow. You're lucky ou got your kids on there at such a young age. What's next for them -- Ghostrider?

I wouldn't go on the log ride until I was about 9 or 10. And then I realized what was there to be scared about? The first drop is no worse than the drops in POTC. The final drop is worse though, but not by much. And nothing compared to Splash Mountain!

You're son doesn't look that happy. His face reminds me of how mine looked when I first went on it. I was about his same age too.

Wolfette tried Perilous Plunge the other day.....now that took guts for her!

When your kids are tall enough and want to go on that one, they'll be trying to calm you down! Now that will be quite the pic!

My son has done Splash... and would like to do it again. The drawback is that he is the only one tall enough, and my wife is terrified of heights so I am the only one that can take him which leaves her with the girls. He REALLY wants to do Ghostrider but it is 50in, and he is barely over 42.

Actually he was upset because his sister smashed him into the seat! I was holding her, but she was so terrified she scooted back into him pinning him aganist the seat. Ironically the one in front is the one who is TERRIFIED of heights... but she wanted to be up front... it wasn't worth it to move her because she would have thrown a fit.

Due to the height of the ride itself, there are only 2 who might go with me on that... and both have to do some growing first.

Re: Kid's did Log Ride

I'm pretty sure I went on the Knott's log ride with my parents when it first opened in 1969 when I was 5 years old. I know that by the time Magic Mountain opened a couple years later when I was 7, I was disappointed that I couldn't talk my parents into going on their log ride for a third time, and I loved the one at Busch Gardens, so log rides were already something I was used to. I still had fear going over the big drop, but that was half of the fun.

When I went to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk a few years ago, I went on their short, unthemed flume ride, and the boy (about 12) with his mom in the same log, who had apparently never been on any thrill ride before, was absolutely terrified even before we hit the lift hill, and seemed completely convinced that we were all going to die, so before we got to the drop he was already sobbing, screaming, and literally quaking with terror. I know that everyone has a different reaction to things like that, but I was tempted to say "Jeez, kid, I was eagerly going on flume rides with bigger drops than this when I was half your age, and I was a girl!" Maybe it does help to start off with mild thrill rides at a young age, before fear of the unknown makes you start having a phobia about them.

So, glad the kids seemed to like it.

I was going to ask if your kids were ready for the Log Ride.

I'm happy you took them without prompting, so I have absolutely no responsiblity for those facial expressons!
