Re: Pin Trading and Buying Chit Chat!

I think I will just bring some of my DL collectibles to DL and see if I can trade people for stuff. Have them go in Disneyana and get me the newest big fig that I want, etc. See how fast I get tossed out on my ear!

When these traders cross the line that way---they should also be tossed out! It's rude, and, a CM wouldn't behave that way (we hope). If they are there to trade their pins, they should behave the way a CM would behave. Or, they should be outside the park doing it.

From what I've observed, a lot of these traders are on friendly terms with the CM's. I've seen many walk into Westward Ho and carry conversations with the CM's in a way that suggests a degree of familiarity. Because of that, they, meaning the CM's, would probably cut them a greater deal of slack.

I collect toys as well and this is like a lesser version of what I observe with toy scalpers and store employees. Scalpers go to Toys R Us or Target or Walmart so often that they get to know the employees to the point where employees might be willing to bring out new stock just for them. It shouldn't happen and it's not fair but what can you do?

BFJen, I was wondering if any of the CM's heard the remarks made to your son? I'm not sure if this sort of scenario is covered in the "official pin trading ettiquette" but it should be.

I think the CM's were busy with an onslaught of pin lookers. The lady was trying to be nice and informative, but it came across and rude and insensitive. I just told my son to ignore her and not to worry about it. There was no need in making a scene and upsetting my son even more. He's kinda sensitive.

I do think that Disneyland needs to put a little bit of a control on the pin traders - I mean bringing in a giant cork board? This is why they have pin nights at the hotels.

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

That Dreams one is my favorite so far too, but I'm still waiting for the Country Bears dream pin that should be coming soon. Not too many left to make.

Though it's not the best picture, you can see the heads on this poster, here.

I have the poster hanging up, and I just mentally check off each one as it comes out.

That looks awesome! How many have they released in that series? I don't recognize all of them.... I know I missed a few, and wished I could have bought even more (like the original Disneyland sign.... grumble grumble).

The only one I know of that was jumbo (and the only one released in WDW as far as I know,) was the Journey Into Imagination one.

I would love a Country Bears one too. Do you know the date it's released, Yoyo?

There is no mention of it yet, but since so many of these have come out, I am assuming it'll be out eventually.

Re: Pin Trading and Buying Chit Chat!

I just had a little fun on ebay and won 3 auctions. Each one had 5 pins in it. Total with shipping? $8.52. Pretty much all are traders except for perhaps one or two. Can't really beat 57 cents per pin - well, I might be able to, but they would likely be scrapper pins.

I think this is an interesting concept. We'll see how cute the pins are though. I'm not much of a personalized pin person, but if they have decent characters, they maybe I would buy one.
