Help keep it on the lanyard!!

So, for her birthday, I bought my best friend the Lavender status, 3d monorail pin that, for the life of me, I cannot find a picture on the internet of. This pin is so huge, that it requires two pointy ends to keep it from falling. My friend decided to keep it on the bottom of her disney pin lanyard because then it would be centered. I can't a picture of what the lanyard looked like either. -_-'
Unfortunately, when me and my friend were getting on a ride, the pin and the backings actually fell off. She ending up losing one of the backings, so she had to keep her new pin in her bag all day.

Now here I am wondering, "What the heck can I do about it??"

Do you guys have any suggestions (or pictures of the pin in question) about how my friend can keep her awesome $17-or-whatever pin on her lanyard? Thankies!

Get some locking pin backs. They are available at most pin trading stores.

    VERY awesome pin!

I don't wear a lanyard, but I have heard the locking pin backs work well (as melonballer said up there )
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I love that pin, but she is very silly for buying it for me since it was so expense!

LOL! It's so interesting when people find each other on this site...

ANYHOW -- I have never really liked the locking pin backs that Disney sells. I bought them once and have steered clear since! They are too difficult to use, and too easy to strip (the lock won't work any more). I don't really like the mickey head backings either so I've gone with some other backings I had (I collect a ton of other pins, Disney is actually one of my smallest, believe it or not).

I would recommend either a Butterfly clutch which is a stronger hold than the rubber mickey ears, but can still be pulled out with a tug:

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Brass-Uniform-Insignia-Clutch-Quantity/dp/B001LQQ20E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=miscellaneous&qid=1245658139& sr=8-3]Amazon.com: Brass Metal Uniform Pin Badge Insignia Clutch Backs, Quantity: 25-Pack !: Everything Else[/ame]

Or I would go with a "Deluxe Clutch" which is the hold of death, until you want it off. Actually, there's one of mine that absolutely refuses to come off.... but they work the ABSOLUTE best of any pin clutch:

Condor Creations : Stock Products : Clutches

*Please note that I do not endorse any of these vendors. Just pictures, for example.*

Re: Help keep it on the lanyard!!

I remember the dude who runs Condor Creations. I used to use the gold pin locks and they came with a little allen wrench like thing to tighten the lock. It is expensive for one pin but if you can find someone locally who has them they might give one to you or trade a pin for one.

One problems with pins is the way the metal post is attached to the pin. I have several pins without posts that snapped off. It is a risk you take when you love pins and want to show them off. I would wear it around the parks but would make sure it is safely tucked away during rides and crowds.

I've used both the locking pin backs that you can get at the DLR and the brass uniform backs that grim grinner showed above. Since I work with giant magnets and wear a lanyard at work (MRI tech), either holds fine and I don't lose anything. I have lost a MIKE pin while using the mouse ears backing. Some of the pins are ferromagnetic and will pull when too close to the magnet.
