Wreck It Ralph - a triumph! Destined for huge box office success!

    Howdy Pards,

Well, the truth of it is, I'm way too old for video games. I don't think I was ever that young to be honest about it. Still I thought Disney Animation's new film Wreck It Ralph was loads of fun...I loved it! When little Miss Vanellope echoed Ralph's words, "I'm a winner. I'm adorable!" she had me hook, line, and sinker...

In the finest of Disney tradition its a film filled with imagination and fun...character development...story...and heart. There's plenty of action, plot twists and turns, and unexpected surprises. I was first in line this morning to see it, and I plan to be first in line when it comes out on Blu-ray and DVD. It's going to be huge at the box office...!

If you haven't seen it yet, let me urge you to go see it as soon as you can...whether you are a video game fan or not you are going to love it!

And, if you have seen it, let's use this thread to share our thoughts and comments about it... For me it was one wild and wonderful ride! Worthy, indeed, of the name Walt Disney...

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

I just got back from seeing it. I LOVED it! I loved the gaming themes and old school arcade game characters, even the Nintendo innuendos (*cough mariocart cough*)

I was really impressed with the storyline and "what happens to games when they aren't being played" concept. As a long time gamer...I enjoyed it thoroughly and had some really hard laughs!

Such a fun time at the theater, and the voice cast was stellar. Also - Paperman was worth the price of admission alone. That short had more heart than any rom com I've seen in years!

Re: Wreck It Ralph - a triumph! Destined for huge box office success!

was wondering when a thread for the movie was going to pop up

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Saw it with some friends last night at midnight at a theater in SF, a few of us even dressed up as characters from various video games (I did an outfit inspired by Tails from Sonic to go with my friend's Dr. Eggman ). Also seeing it at midnight with an audience that was pretty much gamers and other fellow geeks made it a ton of fun.

From a video game fan's point of view imo, they nailed it. I loved the cameos of real video game characters, and all the mini details (like the graffiti shown at one time in Game Central Station, seeing "AERITH SUCKS" written there off to the side made me laugh) to the references of other games that may not have been in the movie (the scene where they baked the car totally reminded me of Cooking Mama XD); even the sound effects, like the noise of the Pac Man ghost and Bowser's fire balls were spot on.

The story by itself was also wonderful. All the characters were great, totally didn't see the plot twist that showed up close to the climax of the film either. I thought the video game worlds were created beautifully as well (and I loved the music!). I left the theater with the biggest smile on my face and I definitely plan on seeing it again!

(also the Paperman short in the beginning of the movie was adorable and beautifully animated).

Saw it last night with some friends. Loved, loved, LOVED it! It was such a fun movie. It's definitely a film I'd pay twice to see in theaters, and I actually want to go back now, lol. Great job, Disney. I hope the Oscar goes to Wreck-It Ralph next year.

My faith in humanity is restored haha! The movie left me such a warm-fuzzy feeling, it was brilliant! The nostalgia was great, the humor was spot on, and Disney's storytelling was perfect. I would definitely pay to watch it again, and without question buying the soundtrack and blu-ray. My only grip is that I didn't see the point of 3-D, but nonetheless the price was still worth this gem.

I honestly think this will go down as a classic when this generation goes by.

I saw it during a matinee yesterday and the theatre was full of adults. They were laughing g at the game references and everything. What I love is that they made a movie about video games but you don't have to be a gamer to love this movie. The story and characters are enough to keep the audience invested. I smell another Disney Renaissance on the horizon...

We just got back from seeing it and it was great. I really wanted to see this movie, however I had some reservations about the plot and some of the characters. First off, I was afraid the plot was going to be to off the shelf and second I didn't feel as though Vanellope was going to be a good enough Disney character. Well the good news is that I was completely wrong on both counts, the plot was incredible and the twists were great and Vanellope was a great character, up on the top of my list. And Ralph didn't wreck it!

    Howdy Pards,

The first weekend's Box Office Results are in and already this film is busting records! Reviews have been tremendous...critics on Rotten Tomatoes have it at 84% Fresh...and, more importantly by far, the audiences who have seen it rate it 93% Fresh!

If you have not seen it yet, let me again urge you to go see it. It's a fast moving, fun filled ride...with surprises around every bend...and heart. It's filled with action...and some of the most delightful and original characters ever. Whole new worlds to explore and enjoy.

Go to the movie...it will make you feel better...it did me! Walt Disney Animation and all those involved in the creation of Wreck It Ralph have good reason to be very proud of this one.

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

I think this thread needs a poll. Usually there's polls with these types of threads. But it sounds like it's a five star movie! Looking forward to seeing it.

Is Ralph going to be on IMAX, or is 007 taking over all the big screens next week?

P.S. Nope I do not believe the film is being shown anywhere on IMAX. I saw it in Real 3D.
