Why are Peeps so dumb? (RCT3)

well RCT2 isn't 3 demensionsal and lacks many features... however it is very easy for most computers to run, RCT3 has many more things you can do, but requires a computer able to handle all of the graphics etc...

so, they are both good? I read the specs on the back of the RCT3 box and it didn't seem to be that bad. My laptop could easily run it.

yes they are both fun to play... but again, RCT2 doesn't have as many features or rides/scenery and shows. RCT3 has firework show, more relaistic scenery and more rides to choose from, I also recomend getting the expansion packs Soaked! and Wild! as they add many more features to the game such as waterparks, and zoos.

But seriously, it's what Monorail Man [trumpeted fanfare] said, its the group dynamic. In all of my parks, what's the most popular things a peep is doing? It's not going on my super cool rides, or eating my food and drink...but it's 'meeting with group' or whatever. The group is only as fast or as smart as its weakest link.

I have noticed something else about the peeps in RCT3. I build a new ride. An intense ride. I open it and nobody will go on it. They get up to the ticket booth, note the intensity and turn around and leave. Then one or two brave little peeps will get on the ride. I watched this because it was just so fascinating. Then the ride ends, and the two brave peeps get off and once past the exit gates they start jumping up and down and waving their arms in the air and yelling. Within a few minutes the queue line, which had been empty, is full. I just find that so amusing that apparently these little peeps talk to each other. I have had this happen so many times I know it's not a quirk. Word of Mouth can make a ride crowded or empty.

A big thing that RCT3 simulates is how peeps have to 'work up' to a certain intensity. You have a skittish little brother at Disneyland who won't dare on Space Mountain, so what do you do?
You put him on the Matterhorn, then Big Thunder, and then he's worked up enough that he is ready so such a high intensity ride. Just watch a peeps profile, and the maximum intensity they can take slowly goes up with each intense ride.

This is one of the major complaints against the manufacturer. The minumum specifications on the box in actuality will allow you boot up and run without immediately shutting down - not much else. Exceed those and you can create small sparse parks. The real question is - exceed by how much, to enjoy the experience.

Here are two measurements:

A. 2 Ghz processor, 128Meg video card, 512 Mb of system memory.
B. 3.5 Ghz processor, 256Meg video card, one Gb system memory.

A will let you create small parks with a reasonable frame rate, but will choke on crowded parks or medium sized parks. B will let you create medium sized parks with a reasonable frame rate, but if they are over-built or contain too many objects and attractions, the frame rate drops considerably. Neither of these options will allow you to run a large park without significant slow downs. To run a large park, full of things at real-time action requires an extremely powerful computer beyond most users ability to afford.

Having said that, although I still very much love the simplicity of RCT2 and its unique charm - my preference is toward RCT3. Primarily because of the 3D, riding the rides, the better peep AI, and the ability to build in ways and with views that RCT2 can't.

If you made a fireworks show it was RCT3 as 1 & 2 did not have that feature.

I saw something about peeps yesterday that was really cute. I had about 1500 peeps in the park and they were starting to act dumber and dumber so I closed the Park and all the rides and shops and booths, etc. and while working on a roof for a big building, I just let the park run. The numbers dropped until there were about 50 people left. I started clicking on the list of Guests and found most of them were stuck on rides that I had closed. So I picked them off and put them on a sidewalk and it eventually got to 2 peeps left in the Park. One said Meeting With Group and the other said Waiting For Group. Well, since the rest of the group had gone, they were just wandering all over the place or standing in one spot. So after a bit of thinking I thought of renaming them to see if that would make a difference. The boy I named John Doe and the Girl I named Jane Doe. After about a minute, the Waiting for Group and Meeting with group status disappeared and was replaced with Going Home for both. I found them and low and behold they were walking out of the Park hand in hand. They were not part of the same group and had different last names before I renamed them and all of a sudden they were a couple. They disappeared into the Ether together, hand in hand. I just thought that was so cute. Maybe they are not as dumb as we think.
