Unfortunately the door was open in the projection tube every time that I rode. From the rear, when the doors are open, you have 30% projection visibility which is really just the area above your head and no visibility whatsoever from the front seat. This was a big bummer and I hope that this does not become a regular thing with this ride. Overall I give this ride experience a 6 out of 10, 10 being X2 at six flags.
The end door in the tunnel was working on Wednesday, but bear in mind they are still working out the kinks in the system. The sensors on the restraints were giving them the fits for a while early in the morning.

San Diego winters are far from being freezing cold. I mean with an average high of 65-69 for Nov to March, not really cold at all.

Yes but when it's overcast and there is a wind kicking up around 10-20mph which is not unusual down there, it's noticeably cooler (like it was Wednesday morning). Granted it's not like winter on the Great Lakes, but for thin blooded SoCal natives it might as well be

I had a blast during yesterday's passholder preview. Although, I didn't realize that SeaWorld's definition of "preview" was quite that literal. The gift shop didn't finish setting up and open up until halfway through the day, and electricians were still busy wiring up area lighting throughout the night. Manta itself was quite fun though, and it'll be quite nice to have a dry thrill ride option at the park.

Speed means nothing. I rode it today a few times and it packs quite a punch.

It was like that today too. They were still setting up the wiring in the aquarium, they were doing landscaping, the manta feeding center still isn't complete. Disappointing that they could not wait a week to get things finished.

Re: You all excited for Sea World's San Diego Manta Coaster? I am!

Stopped by the park today to see how this Manta stuff was working out - I was very impressed with the ride. When we got to the ride the line was LONG but it moved very fast. I was actually surprised how fast the line was moving. Maybe it will slow down with the quick queue thing hits it, but we shall see. The queue was very long and parts of it was very nice. There is a part where you are close to the 'splash' area and underground by the aquarium (warning no cell service down there!) and the last part you are out in the sun with no theme... kinda strange if you ask me to have the theme so nice up to the last part then *poof* nothing.

But the ride itself was very fun. Great? No, not quite... close but not in that great status. The first part when you are in the screen area is cool and the train rocking back and forth makes it seem that much more like you are really underwater. The ride was long - which is great in these days of short 30 second rides. I would make this a must do on any trip to SWSD.

Took a few pics, even took a video of the screen area but it came out unwatchable so nevermind. You can take a camera on the ride - I asked if I could and they said yes, no problem. just be sure to have a strap with it.

This is taken from the line.. I did get splashed just a tad one time. But it is a cool viewing area.

The water in the underwater viewing area is still VERY murky. Made it hard to see anything.

These were very cute - hope they last.

And after the nice part of the line... when you get close to the end you go outside and get no theme... so sad

I know the details are not finished yet - but just a heads up, if you need some free internet you can hook up to this ethernet cable they have just hanging out going to the store above. ITS FREEEEE!

These are the oldest ride ops I have ever seen lol - they must have retired from SFMM...

    The end of the ride...

SeaWorld San Diego Manta opening weekend by PadresFan619, on Flickr

I *hope* this is just part of the 'we are not done yet' part of the ride. But I have a feeling it is not and they are going to leave a very large part of the park just covered in wood chips and rocks. There are small parts that are covered in grass, so that leads me to think this will not be a 'grassy knoll' or anything. I sure hope I am wrong.

And this made me laugh pretty hard... the area where the stinky flamingos will be soon (where they were before). But for now they are not there and some light harted SWSD employee put these little guys here for a fun little photo op.

that's pretty cool- those wooden things are called omamori; sort of a Japanese lucky charm which is fitting given they kept some of the Japanese theming of what used to be the Japanese Village area.
Amnesia used to be my favourite word, but I forgot it.

I got to ride Manta twice today... Once in the back and once in the front. I preferred the front seat to the back. It is a really great ride! The pictures and videos do not do this ride justice at all... You have to ride it for yourself!

Went to the passholder early entry this morning. Rode it 6 times in about 35 minutes. Great coaster. Not 6 flags but still great.

I got there around 8:30and waited in a line to get into the Manta entrance area. When they let us in at 9 I was done riding for the first time (in the back) by 9:15. I then hopped right back in line and waited a while longer for the front row and was done by 9:40.
