Re: Sea World SD - Photo Essay - Winter Visit

I'm amazed at how nice SeaWorld is. I need to check this out next time I'm in the area. I always thought it was just another Marine World.Atlantis is super cool looking.

The picture setup is sure cool. Thanks guys.

Exactly. The park isn't too big and you sit for 25 minutes or more for each show. If you plan the day right, you can go from one show to the next with about half an hour between them. Just remember:

"If you're sitting in the first 12 rows, there's something that you ought to know. There's a 50/50 bet, you'll get 100% wet!"

Keep dad dry and don't run him from one side of the park to the other and he'll have a grand ol' time.

Re: Sea World SD - Photo Essay - Winter Visit

We were there this past summer for two days! We did the DIP (dolphin interaction program) where you suit up in the lovely wet suits and jump in the 60 degree water with a dolphin! Totally priceless! Our kids loved it!

And we did everything there was to do! Stayed til closing every night...

Dusty - do they still have that gymnastics/drums show at the end of the night?

It might have been a summer thing..but it was one of the most amazing shows I've seen in a while!

And I have to agree with whoever posted it....do not ride the rapids ride here if you do not want to get soaked...completely! Down to your underwear! NOT pleasant!

awe, yes...I have gotten soaked before...LOL...now we just go to guest relations and tell them what times we'll be at the show and we just show up for our seats. They are not in the soak zone...It was great during the busy summer .......We'll probably go when it warms up more. My father does not like the cold so much...

Re: Sea World SD - Photo Essay - Winter Visit

I was wondering if Sea World still had the Commerson's Dolphins (the black and white ones). They have had them on display for at least 15 years. I am fascinated by them! I love the penguins, too. Glad to hear that their display will be refurbished soon.

The arctic display is pretty neat. Love the polar bears!!!

As you mentioned, Shamu and the Dolphin show are standards,
but I also enjoy the Sea Lion and Otter show, did you see that?

Whenever I have visited Sea World, the park has always been
clean and well kept up. But, as mentioned most everything is
outside, so it's real easy to get a sunburn. So for anyone planning
on going, be sure to bring sunscreen, sunglasses and hats,
because your gonna get A LOT of sun, (if it's not raining).

Yes sir. They have moved them to a beautiful new tank at the exit of the Atlantis attraction:

I went in Dec 05 and did everything in 6 hours, too.

Also planned watching the shows relatively close.

Glad we got on Wild Artic before the big crowds showed up. One thing I liked anout the ride was the white cloud transitions( unlike soarin over CA).

Atlantis is cool. But nothing to hype over about. The Atlantis tank is cool.

The dance/ talent show at the entrance called Riptide only plays in the summer. A LOT of people, including myself, found it boring and left.

Cirque del a mar only plays in the summer, too. But it's really great.

The fireworks show in the summer is lame. I wouldn't wait for it.

A new Shamu show arrives called Believe.

Great photos, the park is all right.

FLA's atlantis is cool, but could be rehabbed, it's less coaster more water portion...

We have a cirque type show that is year round... in the oddysee theater.

the fireworks show is alright, but could be improved.. little kid dreaming after a day at Seaworld, and then is underwater and wants to see his friend shamu.. lol ends with thatm, mostly water projections... and at end alot of low level pyro.

Believe is coming soon to FLA.. after it comes to SD i belive

You know - I have not been to SW since I stopped working there in 2001 (ride op at shipwreck). I really have had no interest in going back... but this report actually made me consider it for a few seconds

I agree! Next to Disneyland, Sea World is my favorite. I could just stay at the dolphin petting pool all day, and I love the Penguin Eno****er plus I love to watch the puffins next door. It's been a few years since I've been there and now that I've seen your wonderful (and creative) pictures, I really want to go again.
