Talking Review of Antarctica : Empire of the Penguin at SeaWorld Orlando

The official article and column will be coming tomorrow, but for everyone who wants my "first take" here it is....

I LOVED IT. I have been watching this thing rise from the earth for 2 years now. I had INCREDIBLY high expectations. But I believe my expectations were placed in the right spot.

What I expected from Brian Morrow's creative team was an experience that would transport me to the bottom of the globe and make me fall in love with the residents of the world's largest continent.

To say Antarctica is a "RIDE" is not fair, or accurate. It is an immersive experience that through various mediums, and one portion of the experience is a short ride, instills empathy, compassion, and respect for these incredible animals that survive and thrive in the harshest place on the planet.

The land, the queue, the pre-shows, the ride portion the animal habitat, all add up to a whole component that is an entire experience. If you separate out any one of these components, it feels empty and lacking, but as a whole it feels incredible, vast, awesome and wonderful.

Wow to SeaWorld, wow to Brian Morrow, and I can't wait to go back tomorrow!

Here are more photos of the area. This one is of the ride building and entrance.

The next one is of the restaurant on the left and the gift shop
    In the back.

I agree with you Eric, this new area is incredible. The ride along with the Penguin habitat is really awesome. I myself was not let down, it appears that those that were let down were just judging the ride itself and not the ride in combination with the habitat. It's really amazing how the ride tries to acclimate the riders to the 38 degree Penguin habitat by having each room on the ride colder than the previous room so it's not a shock when the riders exit their vehicles.

Please forgive me for posting this on more than more than one thread. (There are a few about this attraction.)

The online reviews and twitter comments have been generally disappointed. I have seen very few positive reviews, a few mediocre ones and quite a few expressing disappointment.

'I think it is all about your perspective. A lot of the people who are disappointed are people who never go to SeaWorld in the first place.

For people who visit SeaWorld, like what they do, and enjoy animal encounters and interaction, then Antarctica is a massive WIN!

It is like the old Living Seas attraction 10.0

Just great overall. I love it so much!

Absolutely adored this EXPERIENCE. It was incredible, and never done anything quite like it. To smell that smell, feel that air, and hear the noises they make.. Normally they are behind glass, and I always have dreamt about being behind that glass.. finally I was.

It is weird how having the glass removed truly transforms the experience. You really feel the penguins when you are in there with them.

I love spending time in there so much even though it is 32 degrees! lol
