Re: Shanghai Disneyland

Yeah... But I probably won't get to see WoC in person until around the time SHDL opens.

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

Oh what a bummer.

But I am sure the wait will be worth it.

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

I sure hope...

So what do you hope to see in each of the re-imagined lands of SHDL?

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

From what I've heard, the lands will be
depicted more "toonish".

Reason being, the Walt Disney Company wants
guests under the age of 14 to connect to the
Disney/Pixar characters.

But back to your question, one idea
I would like to happen is a ghost town themed
Frontierland.

The idea has been brought to reality in attractions
such as the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
and the Phantom Manor.

Both are themed with haunted spirts setting
in the early westen America.

Just continue the theme throughout the land.

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

I like DLP's Frontierland the most.
Big thunder is more of a centerpiece there and it goes through that tunnel under the water and it's pitch black. Thats also my favorite BTMRR

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

I do as well.

The overall theming of both attractions
can be showcased throughout the entire
land.

This would make this version of Frontierland
unique and exclusive.

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

Yeah. It would give us all a reason to go there...
Would you prefer the hub and spokes design or something else?

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

The hub/spoke layout is a simple and traditional design
but it seems to be a lot more confined.

As mentioned previously, the layout of
Universal's Island of Adventure would really
make this Magic Kingdom stand from the rest.

If Disney were to utilize a similar design, I'm sure
they will make it just as unique and better then
what Universal has done.

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

They could revisit the 1930's Main Street that never got built in Paris, but I doubt they'd go down that route.

The main problem I have with the IOA layout...which is basically the same as the World Showcase layout...is the time and energy needed to walk to / from lands opposite each other around the lagoon. I do agree however that the hub / spoke design is somewhat confined as it is less amenable to sweeping vistas. Another alternative is a DisneySea-ish layout which I think of as a cross between those two basic layouts. A Magic Kingdom park on a DisneySea-ish layout would be great IMO. Wouldn't it be nice to enter the park and see a fairytale castle on a hill across a body of water (something similar to what will be seen in the upcoming Rapunzel animated film...pictured recently in Disney23 magazine)?

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

I liked going around IOA once or twice, but after entering the park to ride Dueling Dragon's or Jurassic Park it was such a hassle, not to mention it would be way busier in a Disneyland park and there wouldn't be many paths, but still, I am all for the IOA style for a Magic Kingdom, like Rob said it would stand out from other Magic Kingdoms and it wouldn't seem like Magic Kingdoms a clone from every other park and nothing special. Like Tasman said it would be neat to have a DisneySea-ish desgin and a castle across a lake. That would make people go all the way around the lake to see the castle up close, and not to mention a fireworks display with a giant body of water in front of you and a castle in the midground, and fireworks in the background! That would be great!!

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

What if the castle was in the middle of the water? And there was a network of underwater glass tunnels running underneath the center lagoon.

Re: Shanghai Disneyland

ABC news announced this a few months ago, with a picture of SBC in the background of the headline.

So I can only assume that the classic DL version castle will be implemented in this new park.

Just because ABC sticks an image of SBC into their report means absolutely nothing other than an image that the public commonly associate with Disney theme parks. Since HKDL got an Anaheim castle clone, I would be very surprised if Shanghai did too.

Meh. I hope its a nice castle, the castle in Beauty and the Beast? That would be pretty sweet. When people think of Disneyland, they think of Sleeping Beauty Castle. They probably put it because when you think of a new Disneyland, thats what you imagine.
