We'll likely learn a lot more about this project at the upcoming D23 Expo. With a unique layout, castle and attractions, Shanghai is rapidly shaping up to be a very interesting Project.

^man D23 is going to have more to offer than last time then since we'll hopefully hear about a New Tron ride/movie, New stuff at Disneyland and DCA, new animated features and now maybe a whole Display on Shanghai cant wait til August.

My calendar is already marked for early april. Early April is my bday so Dear Disney please give me happy birthday surprises that i'll love! lol

The Chinese have hosted the grandest Olympics and the most impressive worlds fair.

Fair enough. But the balance is off to the degree that it would make sense to have more Marvel and less Princesses, wouldn't it?

The problem with this assumption is that you're looking at the entire population of China to decide what direction the theme parks should go. The majority of the population of China would most likely NOT be able to afford a trip to a Disneyland park. Hence why they're building one in Shanghai in addition to Hong Kong. There will be the wealthier folks who and honeymooners who may make the trip but not the whole country.

And making Princesses a focus is a bad idea for any park. Striking the proper balance always is the best strategy.

From what I've read, a Tron indoor coaster is pretty much a lock for the park, and is making the rounds for WDW.

I'm VERY interesting in finding out more details...

What will they do about the spitting? Nobody has mentioned a good way to either prevent or how to maintain the beauty of a park with Disney standards.

Thanks Al/Dusty for giving a solid date as to when some details will finally be unveiled.

Along with Shanghai getting the Tron ride and the unique castle, it has also been leaked by internet insiders that both the new Seven Dwarfs coaster and SplashMtn version of PotC (with heavy film influence) are also scheduled for the park. Should be a very exciting reveal - looking forward to early April.

If Disney is planning to "pull out the stops" for this Shanghai announcement, and the park is really extraordinary, it has to make one wonder how HKDL management is going to react when/if their park suddenly looks very pedestrian in comparison to China's "premiere" Disney park up north. Maybe announce some more expansion, as has been rumored on these boards.

It would be great to see HK & Shanghai try to outdo each other in their Disney parks, as they have in skyscrapers.

I wonder how the park will look in 20 years surrounded by tall buildings...

Only "bad" thing about the timing is...I will be in Japan at the time, and don't know if I'll have internet access! Very much looking forward to this. I'll definitely be at this year's D23, unless something pressing comes up.

The word "kinetic" scares me just a tad. Am I justified to be afraid this could backfire?

ORWEN: Well, I just wanna' say you can never have too many princess attractions despite what certain ducklings are saying. If anything, there's way too many male-centric attractions with not enough emphasis on us girlie girls. I think it's time some of you learned to like tiara's along with the color PINK!!!
