Shanghai Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean to be Amazing

At a special Pirates of the Caribbean event last night at Disneyland's Club 33, it was revealed that Shanghai's Pirates of the Caribbean will be a technologically advanced version with motion base boats (similar to the motion on Indiana Jones). While not much more was revealed (they are being VERY tight lipped on plans for Shanghai Disneyland), it's nice to hear confirmation on this particular ride and its innovative ride system.

I've never wanted to visit China more than I do right now (or at least when the park opens). What about you?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Shanghai version bears little resemblance to the original and puts a much greater emphasis on Jack Sparrow, Barbossa and friends.

And why not? Every Disney park should be unique, and a totally revised POTC would entice fans from all over the globe.

It will definitely be heavily film-influenced.

A couple of insider rumors to add. I've read some kind of Mermaid (as seen in the latest POTC film) effect is being considered for MK's PotC. Knowing how TWDC likes to spread its development costs, it wouldn't surprise me if this is a feature being developed for Shanghai's ride.

On a similar note, According to Al and others, Disneyland's next big development was supposedly either going to be Tomorrowland or Frontierland addition (it's looking like Tomorrowland won out), but I recall hearing that the Frontierland concept was to be "an EMV-Boat ride hybrid", which dovetails with this Pirates ride system... a system that WDI seems eager to put out in the field.

I go to Shanghai every few years, so I've already planned to be there soon after it opens. Hearing this makes me even more excited.

China is great. Shanghai Disneyland will make it a better experience, but it is definitely worth going even now (like what people say about Japan - also true!)

That ride system is the most interesting thing I've heard from WDI in recent years. It was about time that they came up with something new. Although Cars LAnd looks great, nevertheless it is based on a 15 year old ride system.

Agreed that this sounds amazing, but actually anticipated (once WDI was precluded from the Kuka arm technology).
There's one other variation of the Indy technology that's the logical extension. My guess is that WDI is working on this as well.

But to be honest, this is the first confirmation that they're working on a water version. BTW. this version never "floats" on water (I'm sure it's in water though)... it just simulates it all the time... even the drop is actually controlled... even on PotC, it's guided on rails anyway...

So it will not have this big drop we have seen in the POTC concept art for HKDL. But didn't the concept art for SHDL also show such an attraction with the Splash Mountain style drop?
