Rush in Concert!!! Pictures and Reviews from 2 Shows in 1 week

Last night was Brian (O-nut's Hubby to be) and my "Man-Date" to see my favorite band Rush. This had been in the works for months and we couldn't wait.

I'll actually be going to see them tomorrow night with our son (His first concert) so I'm very excited about that. So I'll be sharing more on Friday. And since it was evident (after I got in) that they don't mind camera's (even though the parking said no cameras) I should have better pics for tomorrow's show.

But for now, here are some that I took with my cell phone camera.

Review:

It's still amazing to me that 3 guys, in their 50's can still play for 3 1/2 hours perfectly. There has been ALOT of talk in the "Rush World" about set-lists, and songs they woulda-coulda-shoulda played. That all went away as soon as Alex started his opening riff on Limelight.

Highlights of the show for me were The Trees, The Larger Bowl (which I didn't care for in leg one), Natural Science (You can tell they all REALLY enjoy playing this live, and we love hearing it), Subdivisions, Spindrift and Witch Hunt. The show was flawless and the sound in the still brand spanking new Nokia Theatre is spot on. FINALLY LA has a medium-sized venue that rocks. They were all REALLY into the show and were really playing to the Pit. (I need to get down there one of these days).

Brian had seen every tour from Permanent Waves (1979) to Counterparts (1994), but not since. He was amazed at how well they had played, that they played for so long, etc.

They are playing Irvine on Sunday ... lawn seats are cheap. Take the boy, he'll have a blast as will you.

On Mother's Day? I love Rush but not enough to come home to a knee to the groin.

I haven't been to Irvine in probably 14 years. Last concert I say there was Lollapalooza with Metallica, Soundgarden & Devo. Ah, the good old days. Thanks for the suggestion Gregg. Bad timing to see a concert.

I've only been sloppy drunk at 2 concerts. Seen Metallica 8 times and was sober for every one.

my mum went and saw Rush when they were here in Reno on saturday night, she too was amazed that they played for 3.5hours and she absolutely loved the stage setup

yeah, she has her moments


she took me to my first concert when i was 5 years old....it was Ted Nugent of all things, lol!

Then the summer i was 11 she took me to see Rick James, Diana Ross, Donna Summer and Marvin Gaye..i didn't appreciate seeing those people as much then as i do now....

...i really have her to thank for my love of music
