What are you afraid of...

and why?

I'll start.

Sharks... who knows why. I will watch Jaws, but not Deep Blue Sea, and Open Water's poster gave me nightmares...

Black Widows... was bit when I was 4.

Dentists... my bro wiggled in the chair next to mine and got a little hurt and started screaming when we were both in elentary school... I have to take a certain stuffed animal, and I sot in the chair and my shoulders are up to my chin and I cry cause I'm scared it will hurt. Does not help I am hard to numb because my heart is beating so rapidly

Zombies... I used to kill off people I love in my sleep, now zombies attack me. And what the heck is up with that? There is no such thing as zombies, they were completely made up in the horror genre (thanks, Romero!) I was fine with zombie movies until I saw Dawn of the Dead.
That zombie baby scared the heck out of me. *shivers*

Skeletons. I'm absolutely terrified but I don't have a good reason why.

Bees. Because I watched My Girl when I was four and even though I'm not allergic I'm still afraid they can kill me.

Aliens - I thought I saw one in my room when I was a kid. I've always been afraid of them and I think I always will.

Huge waves - I used to have terrible nightmares of huge tidal waves like the ones in the movies.

Something bad happening to my children - self explanatory

Scorpions. Got stung when I was in college, it was a little ba!#%^d too. Don't want to do that one again. And I live in the desert, smart choice huh? Luckily we've only found two in the house we are in now. I know people here in Phoenix that find them daily.

Note to self: Avoid moving to Phoenix at all costs.

I'm not afraid of most animals, even rodents and snakes (unless poisonous), but don't get me near bugs! Hate the little creepy crawly things! Biggest bugs fear - flying beetles!

I also fear the house catching fire. Losing all our stuff would be bad, of course, but mostly I fear that DH and I can't get out, and we can't rescue our fur babies!

Re: What are you afraid of...

I'm scared of large crowds of panicky people, like in a disaster situation or something. Or like when I was in Italy and we were climbing the dome at St. Peter's cathedral, up this narrow winding staircase, and all I could think about was what if someone higher up in the line freaked out and started barreling back down the stairs, taking out everyone in the way.

I also have a thing about falling down stairs, so that was a two-fer for me!

The Oompa Loompas from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

I saw that movie when I was a kid (a double feature with Charlotte's Web) and for the longest time after that I would imagine they would be peeking out at me from inside my closet or running down the hallway.

Those things creeped me out! I'm nearing 40 and I'm still not thrilled by them!

Re: What are you afraid of...

random violence that I have no control over....for example, somebody coming in the house while I'm home or especially sleeping.

All those news stories about people getting shot on the freeway or just walking around.....it really scares me.

I think the reason for the first one is because of the richard rameriz thing. I was a teenager when he was out on his murder spree and left alone every weekend. i was terrified.

As for the freeway thing...My drivers window was shattered on the freeway by lug nuts being shot form a sling shot. My Bf at the time cit a car off and they chased us and shattered the driver window. the lug nut took a huge chunk out of my steering wheel and they threw beer bottles at the passenger side.

I knwo I should get over it, but it's hard....nothing else scares em to the extent the above does.
